Yeah how good was it? Seriously one of the coolest things MLB have ever done. Field of Dreams was one of my favourite movies growing up. Man I’d kill to play on that field, I absolutely would.

The game had a fitting end as well. A walk off home run to the Sox into the cornfields.

Whoever came up with the idea was probably laughed out of the room, but it's deadset genius

Huuuuge upset win for the Aussies in the first group game of the World Baseball Classic, hanging on by their fingernails to beat Korea 8-7. They were given no chance but two big home runs in the middle innings put them out to a shock 8-4 lead. Korea ate into that lead in the 8th to be one behind going into the bottom of the last, but a ripping throw from Perkins behind the plate throws out the runner trying to steal second for the final out. Sydney Blue Sox pitcher Josh Guyer gets the save. Incredible finish.

Australia are through to the Quarter finals of the World Baseball Classic for the first time in history after beating the Czech Republic 8-3. This is huuuuuuge for Australian baseball. We definitely were not supposed to get out of this group, we were supposed to be cannon fodder for the Japanese and Koreans, but after shocking Korea in the first pool game and despite losing to Japan, wins over China and the Czechs puts us in second in the group and into the next round at the expense of the Koreans. A massive test awaits with Cuba up next.

Some nice news. Australian pitcher Liam Hendricks (currently playing for the Chicago White Sox) is now cancer free and ready to return to the field. He made his first appearance at a media conference wearing this shirt:

Some Japanese player just signed a 10 year 1 billion dollar deal for one of the Major League Baseball clubs.

That “some Japanese player” is Shohei Ohtani. A generational talent who can pitch and bat at an all-star level, an absolute rarity in this day and age, he’s literally the only one in the league that can do it. Although he wont be pitching next year due to him recovering from Tommy Johns surgery. A true worldwide superstar of sport and is now the highest paid sport star on the planet.

Got my hopes up that Ichiro was making a comeback
