Missed all of the fun being at work.

What I want to know is whether ASADA threw in a free set of steak knives and whether the players are in the draw to win a house and a boat - or a houseboat.

The players admitting that they took illegal substances gives ASADA a leg up in their battle with Essendon,

they can say that Dank was doing it at the Sharks before Essendon etc.

Gotta say I'm relieved - and thanks Essendon for investing the money to save us before we tripped you up :)

Please let me re-iterate some points facts from previous discussions -

1. The "official" supplement program of the Club was 100% above board. All records were maintained and all supplements have been cleared. On that basis, the Club has no case to answer.

The implemented program was sourced "outside" of the Club. The Board at the time was told that the person was brought into the Club to supply GPS equipment for the new HPU - that is how this rogue element was brought into the Club.

2. DO NOT buy into the "We had no CEO, therefore this happened". The structure of the Club was very clear and concise. Shane Fanagan was the HEAD of the Football Department at HIS request, he wanted EVERYONE to report to him as HEAD of Football. It is very clear that the Football Department attempted to resolve this issue without informing the Board of Directors. The Board gave Flanagan the Corporate structure that he asked for, so again, for him to say " it is the systems fault" is a lie.

3. I am not a legal person, but in my view the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks and their Board of Directors did nothing wrong and are at no fault. The main criticism of course is the comments made by Damian Irvine to Phil Rothfield, other than that they are not at fault. My question would then be, is there grounds to sue Shane Flanagan as opposed to the Cronulla Sharks? Simply because it has been proven that "The Club and its Board" did not act outside the guidelines.

4. In my view, Danks will never be prosecuted because whilst he has allegedly broken sporting codes, he has done nothing illegal from a criminal perspective

Like everyone else, I hope this can be properly resolved. I am not comfortable about Flanagan returning to the Club for the above mentioned reasons, but I do hope we can move on and build from this diabolical situation.

Haven't read it anywhere, I know those of us with businesses all have public liability insurance and what not... Do the club as a whole have like a Litigation insurance that would cover stuff like this... Smart folks out there please answer

interesting hey bud....if he gets cleared and now everyone knows our current lot were boxed into a corner..... the legal side of that could be very interesting indeed

Exactly. If he fights and wins then the reputation of all of them ought to be cleared. The only risk for Besty is the cost of proceedings.

If he loses then it will makes everyone look worse. He should save his money and enjoy his retirement.

This looks to be a attempt to split Essendon and the players. They have Paul Little and James Hird backed into a corner.

100% with you Fiz. Shane can not return his position is untenable.

I also think as I said before that the coaching staff will be next in the sights of ASADA and will probably end up in legal action with the duped players.

Can't the club promote the game??
I mean there is still a footy match in this weekend, isn't there?

Absolutely. The players are required to dob people in or they will end up like Sandor Earl. Flannagan and Knoakes are finished.

I don't think there could have been a better outcome for the club that this. There appears to be little to sue over except for safety issues which is somewhat hazy. I think it will end here.

Essendon on the other hand....

A question for the lawerly types: if the players/RLPA take legal action, whose going to be the target? The staff, Dank, the Sharks or the NRL?

Hmmm Melb radio = AFL radio. Stronger or not doesn't matter - there is no leniency for "cheating but not as much as that mob"

Its a good thing the club re signed flanno, and reinstated some coaching staff after they were stood down by the previous board. That looks good now doesn't it

I was thinking as a member I should have at least received an email today, with a statement explaining what has happened and how this affects our club in the short term - this weekend and the rest of this season and the long term.
