I wonder if the bit about a team chasing a younger hooker despite having an 80 min hooker is related to us and the Segy rumours ?
could be. Could be just a nothing rumor to fill a nothing piece too. Draws speculation. Name some names or eff off I reckon (the writer not you)

Agree, no way we can do that. If we can sign Segy then as cruel as it sounds it's bye bye to Mick as far as playing is concerned. We need to be more ruthless.
I think that was the dogs plan too and look how that's playing out. Give Mickey the keys to the city and a blood oath to Seggy that that 9 is his after we win the comp this year

Can't tie that much money up by having two top 80 minute hookers for me, especially with interchanges becoming more valuable. If we can get seggy, table ennis a contract as an ambassador/mentor/coach and let him date it for whenever he decides its time to hang up the boots.

If we re-sign Ennis on the cheap and Segy on a back ended deal why not?

Cant imagine ennis signing cheap enough to make it worth it, and not worth playing with the fire of back ended deals to again, run two 80 minute hookers.

but its about succession. Ennis has 1 season left in him (beyond this year) where you would get the service you are now. He may even wanna go further, but it wouldnt be like now. If loading up on him and seggy for next year means we get seggy for a few more seasons then its a good move. We will be heavy on Hookers for a year, Seggy can learn off one of the best for a year as well. Ennis wont come cheap next year, but he probably wont command huge money either on the open market for what will probably only be 1 year deals

I'd be more worried about seggy wanting to just get 80.

He left the cows to get a full time gig. He got that full time for what, a year? And he smoked it. Then they cut his minutes back again and his game has suffered because of it.

Give him (what would everyone be happy with?) 500k? Tell him he's got 80 minutes every week no dramas and he gets to play with his best mate wade graham who will be full time captain then. You got Ben barba and Jack bird and Val....

**** I'm making myself wet just thinking about the possibilities

that's just a waste of probably 500k in the cap. We would be stupid to have them both on our books. That money could be spent in a area we will need it like our forward pack

As much as ennis has done for us you have to make the tough decisions. And when you have someone like seggy who is about to hit his prime and has his best years a head of him available you take that opportunity with both hands

Yawn. Our utility is on the field in bird. Beale slots into centre with any injury to the backs bar Holmes where he might find himself on the wing. Mickey is my only concern but I would imagine Chad fills in, bird to 6/7 Beale to centre.

I'd hope segy would come to a quality team on the up like the sharks to play maybe 50min on good $$ for his 1st year then be the main man the following year, than to go to a struggling side just to play 80min next season.
