Do we let back rowers be lazy here? Not in my experience. Paulo will also feel obligated to put in when he sees how hard his best mate plays. He may turn out to be a dud, but he may also turn out to be a player that is at their best with a strong, cohesive team around them (which the Sharks may be next year with Maloney). Something Paulo hasn't had for a long time, if at all. Think of Inu after he left the Warriors to join the dogs.

Or he may just be a dud.

Joe will spend most of his time trying to rope your young vulnerable players to join hillsong, maybe thats a good thing i dont know.

As long as players aren't breaking the law or tarnishing the club's reputation I could care less what they do in their spare time.

Paulo isn't lazy. Its just that his strengths are his ballplay and reading of the game, not digging in and hitting the ball up. He's not very strong in contact but he has some nice skill. A bit like Mateo, he's a 6 trapped in a backrower's body.

With that I mind it will be interesting to see what his role is. Our back rowers are typically strong ball runners.

He's done his best work as a middle third link man with split halves. i.e. a first receiver. Somewhat similar to what Jeremy Smith did for us for a while but without the hardness or the tackling.

Tbh I see him as a partial replacement for Tupou. He can't play prop like Toops but Toops other job was to fill in for Lewis or Graham if they were out because he could make the somewhat complicated plays that they ran on their respective edges. Paulo could do that.

Yeah Paulo definitely ain't anything special in defense but he's not a bludger or a flopper or anything. If we needed to pick him in the 17 he'd at least do a job.

Dragons didn't extend Page? That fizzled out... more proof to never trust a highlights package.
