And Murphy remains invisible - I just can't see why...
Came 2nd in the intrust super cup player of the year. From the sunny coast where Dce & I think hodkinson
come from. How do we know he is not the next one of them, until super coach gives him a go.

We probably could have got Sandow at 200k per season before tonight's game but I say we offer him 650k per year for 2 years

Dragons forward Will Matthews will decide if he joins the Sharks on Sunday

LITTLE brother is close to snaring one of big brother’s most talented young forwards.

It’s a storyline which the two neighbouring archrivals, the Cronulla Sharks and St George-Illawarra, have shared for close to 50-years.

Uncompromising Dragons forward Will Matthews, who will start in the backrow for the injured Joel Thompson (hamstring) against the Sharks at Kogarah’s Jubilee Oval this afternoon, will make a decision after the match whether to take up a two-year offer to join Cronulla next season.

Matthews’ anticipated departure is linked to the Dragons salary cap pressure and their inability to determine if captain Ben Creagh will be afforded a new deal next season.

The highly-regarded Matthews is also on the radar of Penrith, with general manager Phil Gould a vocal fan of the hard-running 26-year-old.

Should Matthews agree to join Cronulla, it will add another thread to the rich tapestry of player poaching between the two clubs — the most famous of all being Test centre Steve Rogers.

Rogers, who made his debut with the Sharks, signed with the Dragons in 1983-84, before then returning to Cronulla in 1985.

This afternoon’s clash will featue a string of players and coaches who have played their trade at either club.

Cronulla players Gerard Beale, Jack Bird, Matt Prior and Michael Ennis have all pulled on the red-v during their careers while Dragons forward Tyson Frizell made his NRL debut with the Sharks before shifting allegiance to Saints.

But the dash of extra spice in Sunday’s local derby isn’t only resigned to the players.

Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan is a Dragons old boy having made his first grade debut with St George in 1988.

And adding a further layer of emotion is Sharks assistant coach Steve Price, who was replaced by St George-Illawarra coach Paul McGregor as head coach of the Dragons last year.

Matthews would be a great get, the fact that he is a dragon just makes it that much sweeter.

In massive need of a 7, sign a forward.

C R O N U L L A S H A R K S

Yeah it seems we sorta see a quality guy on the market and whether we need him or not we sign them. This happened with Barba (but I'm fine with that signing). But 2nd rowers come by every day. We should not be putting any eggs in any other basket but a 7 until we have that position locked in. Nothing wrong with the Matthews signing if we get him, but until Gallen, Lewis and heighington retire he will be a player on the back burner and will be useless to us.

Are the rumours true that we have offered Maloney some really good money?

This is the same Will Matthews who has been a fringe player his entire career right? Kinda stocky, not particularly athletic prop/back rower? What's so good about him?

He might turn out great but this seems like when we made Jon Green our first signing for the year.

Nothing is good about him. Hits hard but is just a guy...he is a solid first grader nothing more.
