You would assume the so called 'war chest' would be available to all teams. So if Inglis came off contract and had multiple NRL clubs made him an offer and he had an offer from Toulon as well, then Smith would make up the difference between Toulon's offer and the highest of the NRL offers.
Say Toulon offer $1.4m, NQ offer $1.2m and Souths offer $1.1m. The $200k difference between the top overseas deal and the top local would be added to any NRL deal he took.
i.e. if its NQ - he'd get $1.4m ($1.2 of NQ's money and $200k of The NRL's).
If he chose to stay at Souths he'd get $1.3m (the original $1.1m offer plus Smith's add on).
That would be fair.

I can see why he'd want to try something new, especially if the money is there. It is what it is. I wish we wouldn't get our knickers in a knot over this kind of stuff. Someone else will come through and be the new star. We've been bring through new stars for over 100 years.

What are they talking for French Union about $1.2M? GI could make that in the NRL. If he goes its not money, its a working holiday in France.

NRL should compensate Bunnies for GI but I think it comes with some sort of penalty.
E.g. When roosters signed fergo the NRL assisted with his rehab but they couldnt sign him for less than 500k
Itll be some sort of penalty to signing marquee players like if sammy wanted to come back there would be a minimum signing fee

Its used so that clubs cant benefit too much from the NRLs assistance.
Im not sure how it work when they actually fund a club for a player- but in the fergo example thats how it was done- was just an example.

Whilst I'll be stoked if we sign DCE all it really does imo is narrow it down to a race between two. Until we pass 30/6 I won't get my hopes up too much.
