LOL Lui...No way. Members would never allow it. I also doubt Manly will be letting go of Jorge anytime soon. Napa is an exciting prospect. If we lost Fifita, but managed to sign Napa, then we'd definitely have extra money to secure a hooker or winger. I don't think our centre situation is that dire anymore, Leutele and dare I say Ayshford might be good enough. We need better wingers than Feki, Wright, or Grothe, however.

Call me an eternal optimist, but I have a gut feeling Fifita will stay.

i think your right, i base this on nothing other than i think the two Fifita brothers want to play
together and all the other clubs are just trying to sign one of the brothers.
i think we will re sign both the Fifita boys.

He'd have to be cheap, and he's a ****in good player..

Everyone makes mistakes etc etc. halfback should be priority number 2.

1. Wade
2. HB
3. A major sponsor that stays on
4. a decent centre
5. A new coach

14. Fafita

If we are going for a 7 we are going for Sam Williams

Why would carney want out because of another senior player. He would win any "he goes or I go" scenario you can think of. Except for Gal maybe. But he ain't here long.

For that sort of coin, you need to be ready to be a forward leader and yeah sure he's playing well but he's got some excellent players around him here. At the Dragons I think they'll be so much pressure on him to perform and he'll be more of quantity rather than quality.

I think he's another season off being a forward leader. At least.

Yeah I agree ..... It seems now days all it takes is one great year an everyone assumes that's the level they will be at continuously ...

Fifita could easily sign a $750 k deal an disappear for a few years at the dragons or rabbits ...

I want to see guys put in over a few years before I start heaping huge praise on them .. (Eg Gal)

It's Pom.

It's not a disagreement with a senior player. He misses one. He wants to be with the Pomenator.

There is no point down playing Fifita's talent. He is the best prop in the business hands down. He can do the metres up the middle and he can provide X-factor.

He is worth as much as the market is willing to pay.

I dont think people are down playing his talent. But i remember a young bloke named david taylor getting the love Fifita is now.........

Fifita had a stellar 2013, his 2012 wasnt **** either. However if its true Saints have offered 750,000 then they are the stupid ones. No prop is worth that. Id top at 500k. 600 will be max with the media assisting the hype and drama. But no more than 4 years. With a massive contract and a history of being a bit lazy, the money might be enough motivation for him to slack off.

The fact that our success or failure could hinge upon whether or not a Prop is in our roster is everything wrong about this Sharks side for years
Honest toilers up front and a mix of gun backs and some cheap up and comers over paying blokes more than 500k to run forward and get tackled, yet alone over 700k!!

I know Fifita is an incredible talent that offers more than most props, we love the big guy and don't want to see him go by any means but for me personally it's just highlighted the place we as a team, club and fans have been in and only slowly showing signs of hopefully moving away from.

Paying "Market Value" in this case 700k+ because of some ludicrous abnormal fluctuation due to overzealous rival clubs will hurt our cap space, limiting negotiation room for players in more key positions and see us make mistakes we should have learned from. My heart would hurt deeply for him to be snatched up by a superior financial offer but my head would be thinking the club made the right strategic decision provided they did not match it.

The club can't stop rival clubs making big offers
The club can't stop a player being interested in more money
The club CAN try and make the best decisions with what is within their control

Stop stressing about something that has risen from other clubs desperation of which the outcome is yet to be determined. This his Adam Blair Tigers move written all over it

My latest load of crap is, that carney wants out. A good sauce but can't see it happening
there is a player wanting out of their club but it's not the sharks mate - the article in RLW is about a bronco

Good post mate, you're dead right as well, Would love to keep Fafita no doubts, but weakening out ability to recruit in more high key areas (hb, centre etc) is not worth it.

We all want a premiership, it's not going to happen with Jeff Robson & Jono Wright as regular FG's.

fyi for what it's worth, the 750k price tag being thrown around is the figure given out by fifita of what it would cost from him to at least think about leaving the sharks from what I've heard, doesn't mean he expects the sharks to pay that figure

And also when have you seen a prop forward like him, he isn't a honest toiler, he is far from a guy who runs up and gets tackled, maybe that's what you saw from turning up at half time on your pretty leather jacket

In your head, rent free
I've heard this one sneaking around the web.

Apparently he wants out as he isn't getting along with another 'big name' player at the club. Could explain his shiner at the 9's.

I wouldn't look too much into it but. If there was a blue between two big name players, especially if one was Carney, it would have made the news, especially as it's Cronulla.

His shiner at the 9's? He got punched by a patron in the mall after a night on the drink
