Yeah you might be right. Toby is 26 and just starting NRL so maybe Ferris could do the same thing.

Talakai played a season for the Jets before joining the Sharks on a train and trial the following pre-season. He played back row - mostly right edge - for the Jets. He did fill in at centres occasionally but struggled a bit defensively.

I just seem to remember watching a few games where he played in the centres for whatever the juniors comp was called back before his 2019 debut. Thought he shoud still have abit of centre in his DNA.
Mix that with the fact hes a more agile / speedy player. Just aways found it strange that we have always opted for the Talakai swap seeing how damaging he is in the back row. But I get it, he is an ex winger and hasnt ever really had a shocker in the centres bar a few defensive lapses in the past more to do with his speed and change of direction.
Certainly if you stood them side by side and asked someone who didn't know them which backrower they'd shift to centre you'd expect to hear Nikora most times.
Think Nikora could fill there okay but Talakai can start there okay and has performed really well as a fill in.
He's a beast and has far more experience in the position. I think (could be wrong) Nikora has only ever been a fill on centre.
Talakai just has too many runs on the board in the position to worry about moving Nikora instead imo

He's discount Ikavalu but the real thing has been a welcome upgrade
TBF Hiroti has had some ok games for us, some less ok ones too.
I think I would actually rate Talakai's passing game better than Nikora in that he actually throws the odd one and it can be pretty good. Passing is important @ centre . Maybe even his kicking is better
I have no confidence giving Nikora a different role to the one he has. He still has to convince me he's a good second rower week to week!
Last year our winger depth was Katoa & Ronnie then Tracey and Hiroti was 4th.
This year it is those same two then Ikuvalu and Hiroti is 4th.
So while Ikuvalu is definitely an upgrade on Hiroti we haven't really 'upgraded' just brought in a different 3rd man to replace Tracey's move to centre. As far as being discount Ikuvalu goes they probably are the most similar of the 5 players named above.
He's filled out a bit since his early days.

Nanai’s asking price is now 600k a season, wants minimum 3 years with 4 clubs circling. I don’t believe we are one of them.

Ponga has 8 weeks to decide whether he’s staying at the knights or will test the market to leave. Dolphins i think Will get him.
Tolman has stated he wishes to continue playing next season. Fifita likely to continue also (barring injury).

Smart of Nanai to strike while the iron is hot, don't know much about him but he's burst onto the scene with a stack of tries at 19 so I'd say someone will take a gamble. I'd be worried he's just the next Nikora with a hot start and then years of mediocrity and defensive weaknesses.
The Cowboys have quite a few guys with promise in this area and if they keep the right few vs if they get stuck with the worst few could be a big difference on their next few years. Nanai, Luki, Dunn, Gilbert, Condon... even Neame and Cotter.
Haas probably deserves it to be honest, although his little bits of trouble here and there hurt him.
If a team like Tigers could afford that then him and Utoikamanu would be an awesome young prop pairing to build around.
If Haas wants to go to a decent team he won't be able to get that money I wouldn't have thought.
Ponga I thought would prefer to leave for Dolphins but now Knights are going decent it makes it more attractive to stay. He might stay on a matched offer now rather than Knights needing to bump offer right up to keep him. Hoy finally showed some signs though so depending on their confidence in him Knights might not be willing to spend as much as Dolphs and I don't think Ponga would take less to stay.
Tolman can and will get another contract somewhere. Fifita is playing decent but clearly hobbled, at this point he needs to seriously weigh up if any offer is worth further damage to his legs. I'd consider keeping both on real low wages but I think Hazelton and maybe Calhoon and Pele will be looking to move into consideration next year so the older guys might be let go if they want too much (and depending on which other forwards we retain). If Graham left I'd be more interested in keeping a bargain Fifita - I don't really want him playing for another NRL club (I know he has previously)

Can't see Tolman and Fifita both playing on, not with the Sharks. Besides long season to go, they might be thinking differently after another 20 weeks of football 
Seems alot for Nanai but seems how it works if you're a gun junior, clubs will pay. Dont know too much about his background on if he's worth that ?

If Tolman is still playing to the same standard come season's end I have no issue giving him a 1 year extension.
Don't forget we have 11 spots in the top 30 open next year at the moment.
If he spends the whole of next year in Cup, great. Means someone has stepped up to take his spot and he will make them work their arse off to keep it.
Fifi I already kind of see like a Udonis Haslem/Miami Heat situation. He' a Totem/Coach/Player in that order for mine.
Either give him a minimum deal and keep that energy or if he retires he remains at club as a specialist forward coach.
