Whispers have emerged out of NSW Origin camp surrounding the future of Jack Bird.

Despite Bird signing a lucrative $1m deal with Brisbane for next season back in April, the Broncos have strangely failed to announce his arrival.

This has led to suggestions that the Broncos are over the salary cap and must move players before being able to accommodate Bird.

However, there is also a story being pedalled out of NSW camp that Bird - never short of confidence - suggested he would ask for a release from the Broncos and stay at Cronulla, if he wasn't happy up north.

It's hardly a ringing endorsement for Broncos fans.

I really don't think any of this matters anymore, even if Brisbane released him, does anyone really think we'd be able to fit him back in under our cap?

In 2019 maybe. But i dunno, i wanna see him go up therr and play like he has this yesr then see what hes worth. Bird made his decision, stick with it.

I can tell you there are a few pieces to this puzzle !!! Not only Maloney & Cronk involved. Flanno is praying and dreaming at moment of a few things....all involve releasing Maloney though

I'd like to see Flanno bring over 4 or 5 of the best players from the Super League as well. Pull out your wallet Flanno and show some balls.
