Nu is more a half than hooker. As talented as Bird can be fuc he can run cold. I'm comfortable having Capewell developing if we lose Bird. Would not be spending crazy dollars to keep him. Those dollars are needed for JT, Gal's replacement...

regarding what i posted, it's just what i have read on a couple sites. i just re post things i see, so everyone can read it also. it's a rumour mill after all i thought :)

last i heard regarding knights and bird, there offer will most likely blow ours out of the park by a substantial amount.
Would that make Ponga, Scott and Bird on really big bucks? What's the rest worth...$2.80?

Its a lotta dosh but he's 23 and churning out 71mins, 22 hit ups, 27 tackles and just shy of 300m. Its scary to think what this bloke will be doing when he matures and hits his straps!

agree. He, with Holmes, and a good plan for the halves in the future is a great base for a club to grow from. We are going to lose our workhorse this year, if we have to spend up to replace him, even if that means losing a guy like Bird, im all for it. Taumalolo is the real deal

Do whatever it takes to get Taumololo here. If that means losing bird then cya. An elite middle third player is more important than a good centre.

i would slot him straight into lewy's right edge, that would be perfect for him

Im with you, though I'd want him to make more of an effort in the gym first. Otherwise I am happy for him to stay centre on a modest contract.

Honestly I don't believe the hype so if he does go, so be it. I'd take Whare as a replacement. Consistent and doesn't have 1/4 the ego of Bird.

Maybe, would need to put on some weight. I think 5/8 is his go once Maloney finishes. I wouldnt want to restrict someone like Bird to one side.

Yeah I don't get the 5/8 talk either, don't see what attributes he has to be a success there.

Andrew Johns is the main one I hear with the 5/8 talk and he's probably just trying to propagate a delusion designed to deliver Bird to the Knights anyway.

Actually it's a bit too complicated for Joey. Scratch that.

Was a beast against Canberra, he ran for 290m odd. That's a huge effort especially against a big Raiders pack.

I don't even think Bird has an adequate passing game to be a 5/8th. Certainly doesn't have the right kicking game. So unless he's playing with a team like the Storm where the hooker, FB and HB can do most of the playmaking he'd make a terrible 5/8th imo.

I do agree he needs to get more ball but not in a play making capacity, so a roving lock/edge backrower is where I'd like to see him go. Preferably next year, throw some money at Kahu to take his centre spot. Get JT3. No Gallen, Beale, Lewis, Heino. That's prob not going to work cap wise so might need some brown paper bags or a boat to get it done.

Yeah a forward pack like this would be awesome, certainly a heap of strikepower.

13. JT3
12. Bird
11. Wade
10. Fifita
9. Brailey rotating with Seggy
8. Prior

I'd say it is manageable. The loss of Gallen actually has us losing most of our $300k salary cap concession for long-serving players, but we get some of that back for Leutele and Holmes. I'd say that we free up about $1m with the loss of those four guys.

I have a feeling we might lose Prior for some reason. He's going to be able to ask for more money and if we extend Graham and Bird, get Segy and want to have a crack at JT3 then I don't know if much will be left for Prior. Hopefully i'm wrong and basing this on no actual facts.
