or pay overs for a nuffy... i wont be happy with hodkinson... we need a star.
If we need a star the only halfback available is DCE. Reynolds (taken now), Hodkinson, Sezer, Maloney, Sandow and Cornish are all below the star level, however are all very good in their own way (bar Cornish who is just a bright prospect).

Meh.

If we don't get a star we just need to find someone that can do the job and work out a game plan to accommodate their strengths and those of the other players. Just like Des did at Canterbury.

I've got a few raps on Aiden Sezer as a pretty good half. We could do worse plus he kicks both goals (for the future if Gordon is lost)and long in general play. Now he has a couple of seasons behind him I think he can take the next step towards being top class. His defence is also not a problem, while Maloney has problems there plus gives away more penalties than any half in the comp.

No one is blaming the club, but there is a real chance we come out of it with no halfback signing for 2016.

Well stocks are limited. Nothing you can do. Put out offers and hope. We'll get someone may not be who we all hope though. Thats life

We won't get a star. I would be stoked to get Sezer, big fan.

General Info on Sezer

SEZER BACKS HIMSELF TO EARN NEW TITANS DEAL
FOXSPORTS.COM.AU – JANUARY 28, 2015
AIDAN SEZER, GOLD COAST TITANS, MANLY SEA EAGLES, NEWS

Gold Coast’s Aidan Sezer has deferred all contract negotiations until well into the new season, with the off contract Titans playmaker determined to prove his worth before seeking an upgraded deal.

With some of the NRL’s biggest name halves off contract in 2015, the first dominoes started to fall on Tuesday as South Sydney’s premiership duo Adam Reynolds (until 2017) and Luke Keary (2016) both signed new deals at the Rabbitohs.

Sezer has been mentioned as a potential target for Manly if the Sea Eagles fail to retain either Kieran Foran or Cherry Evans, but the 23-year-old dismissed talk of his future yesterday as he prepares to open his season at the Auckland Nines.

Sezer and his manager haven’t spoken to any clubs, including the Titans, about his future with the five-eighth only focused on getting his career trajectory back on track after a 2014 ruined by persistent injuries.

I feel the same, he won't have Robbo retire to be replaced by a young kid in Murphy or the like, Flanno will snag someone, we just have to hope they are top tier and still with their best ahead of them

The answer could well be staring us in the face. We need to see what Murphy can do early in the season, we may not need to fork out the big bucks.

Lets see what he can do , lets see if the good judges that rate him are on the money.

We have nothing to lose , except maybe Robbo from the 7 jumper.

Very good players emerge from the QLD cup , the ones that can handle the class rise.

Is Murphy up to it ? , time will tell.

Exactly DCE would be great but Hodkinson, Sezer or Maloney would all be very good options.

Agree with this, like Hodkinson, but reckon wrong fit for where we are/cld be placed now. Give Albert Kelly a call, him and Barba would go good!!!
Hodkinson would be a much better fit than AK, we already have a gun running half in Barba however we lack organisation and a good kicking game both of which Hodkinson would be very good for.

Sadly we don't have a lot of time to play with as there is a shortage of quality options if Murphy doesn't work out.

I'd be betting against Murphy being the answer if I was a betting man. Given the shortage of halfbacks I'm a bit skeptical that no one else picked up a 24 year old playing in a second tier comp.

Also, would we have even signed him if not for Barba?

Odds are we need to sign a halfback or we aren't going top 4.

You wouldn't get very good odds on it.

We can't afford to sit on our thumbs and hope he is the answer. If we sign someone and he turns out to be a gun we still have options.

Pull your sleeves down and put the blades away, fellas.

There is a long time between now and 2015 kick off, let alone 2016 and a hell of a lot can (and will) change in the NRL. Reynolds and Keary are gone, everything else is still speculation. Even if we don't get DCE, who knows what'll pop up. We snagged Barba in the blink of an eye. Who would of thought at the beginning of 2014 we'd wind up with Ennis?

We will have someone in the #7 next year and I highly doubt it will be a 33yr old Robbo.
