He was a huge loss to this club but it got overlooked because we signed lewis.

I agree 100%. A Sam Moa style player. That first hit ups off the kick off and on play 3 most sets is really important.

Doesn't mean Gal won't continue to be part of the prop rotation though.

I hope we can jailbreak someone of quality but its unlikely so I think Flano might have to learn his money.

Some ideas off the top of my head:
- Hunt - already mentioned and a strong chance. Small for a prop though and in terrible form
- Allgood. Good size, good agro, doesn't make much impact.
- Mark Nicholls - Raider. Young guy, tall - about 194cm. Played Junior Roos as a backrower but has shifted to prop.in first grade and reggies. Got an honourable mention in the NSW Cup team of the year. Seems to.have fallen out of favour with Sticky.
- Gibbs. As Bundy said above. He's okay.
- Gil Dudson. Never seen him play but apparently Newcastle, Parra and a few others are interested. Wigan prop.
- Jack Buchanan. Tiger, bit of a plodder but good size another that's down the pecking order. Has played some ripper NRL games at his best.

I'd like to say that this would.have been averted - and much else besides - if the Club did what I told.them and signed Jordan McClean 12 months ago rather than let the Storm add another behemoth to their pack.*

And he is bloody good and so is ther NZ REP big and goes well attack and defence.

He would be very handy if he could stay out of Jail and yes he is kinda the sort of prop we need. Yes Danny nuts was a tough bugger and he would still go ok.. But the trend now for the top 5 or 6 clubs is big powerful mobile units around 115 + ks and they rotate them and they hurt ya , particularly around the back end of a game.

Interesting. Agree McClean would have been a great pick up. Physically allgood is probably the best of those names. Hunt is experienced and could turn around his form here. Gibbs body is finished at the top level. Haven't heard much about dudson and haven't watched much of the other two.

He was a massive loss - not many on here realise this - he was our only "enforcer" and our toughest forward.

Actually, Tee up a boxing match with him against Gallen please.

Loved Jez in Sharks colours was sad to see him go. Tough as nails mongrel with a massive engine for prolonged quality with and without the ball. Seems ageless too.

Interesting the comments in here when you consider Souths who won the premiership had one of the biggest packs going around - few teams could match it with them up front and Souths would often have the momentum

Leave the mobile forwards to the backrow, give me big hard straight running mutha ****as up front and rotate them
Make sure they don't have the Samoan Lewis's attitude either - they gotta be strong body AND mind

Well the Burgess brothers are big, but it's not like they were all big boppers. They had Tyrrell starting and Jason Clark as a bench prop, both are cheap and neither are huge.

CRONULLA Sharks highest-profile new signing Ben Barba arrives today at training to begin the next phase of his NRL career.

The 25-year-old signed a three-year $2.4 million contract yesterday.

The Sharks hunted quickly after Barba was told a fortnight ago by Broncos coach Wayne Bennett that his time was up despite having two years left to run on his contract.

"Ben will be at training today," Cronulla Sharks media manager Rob Willis said.

"His family will join him in the next few weeks."

Barba is expected to live in Sutherland Shire as he did previously when he was playing for Canterbury.

The Sharks have moved quickly in recent days bolstering their playing stocks for next season.

Second rower Jason Bukuya is back after signing a two-year contract after his release from the New Zealand Warriors on compassionate grounds.

St George Illawarra's Kyle Stanley has been released by the club and will join the Sharks.


St George Illawarra's Gerard Beale, on duty with the New Zealand team in the Four Nations series, will be released and join the Sharks.

In other Sharks news, the NRL has reduced skipper Paul Gallen's $50,000 fine for Twitter post containing an expletive.

The NRL appeal suspended $15,000 of the fine and Gallen will have to complete a leadership course to escape a one-match Test suspension for Australia against New Zealand in the Anzac match next year.

In other Dragons news, consistent winger and Kiwi Test player Jason Nightingale is poised to sign an extended contract with the club. He is under contract until the end of 2015.
