I think Suallii is gone from the chooks. We might see Keary move on too and Manu move to 6. Apparently the roosters offered significantly more than newy for young.

I am less worried about the Roorters paying full price to get a new recruit, more worried about the amount of them that stay there the rest of their careers for unders

Chooks good business management at work again😉I suspect they don’t want Suaallii to stay. They’re low balling him knowing he’ll leave. I reckon he has an attitude issue they want to walk away from. Reading between the lines I think he hasn’t bought into the roosters culture.

More unders in terms of cap value. Not actual cash. Be hard to leave a club like the roosters if you were a player. I think sharks are building the same.

Exactly. A club can’t “brown paper bag” every player they sign or word would get out. Just a select few they can trust who stay for life.

Yeah I think they would be after him doing a Manu, taking his first one or two contracts on unders and setting him up long term. Suallii strikes me more of a Hayne type, will build his own individual brand and get paid doing so wherever that may be.

Aside from the Roosters sombrero and all that, I reckon Young is one case where the Bondi lifestyle factor would win out too.
100%. Newcastle is great, but if you're going to live abroad for a short time, with heaps of cash, Bondi is a pretty unbeatable place to be.

I kinda feel bad that the Knights lost the player they flew out here but like they have O’Brien as coach and Ponga as captain like that would be depressing to play there

Why low ball thou.
Just say “sorry, we don’t have a spot for you”.

I reckon it’s a PR thing. If you make it look like he chose to leave the chooks are off the hook. They can’t be accused of letting a good one get away, not being patient enough with a young player etc etc.

True. The Raiders are pretty good at attracting those Northern English/ sons of coal miners/ love the cold weather type of players. Guys who like a small town. Dom Young has beachy ancestral heritage.

If you could keep one, would it be Manu or Sua'ali'i?
Manu, he's a freak and has shown the loyalty to stick around. Sua'lli'i may turn out to be better, but he's not yet and you'd be expecting him to leave after each contract, or sometimes during.

Then factor in Roosters will probably win a premiership in the next 3 years.

Knights are staring down the barrel of wooden spoons and a sacked coach.

It was a no brainer for the kid. Knights fans probably every right to feel hard done by though

Keeping the select few on unders frees up money to make sure you can give a competitive offer to the rest. Then they look over and see you have a great team so they take that competitive offer over the inflated one to go somewhere trash.

While the Canberra weather wouldn't be a barrier clearly Ricky (or someone at the club) is putting in hard yards recruiting these guys
