This column has seen the Suaalii contract offer on a South Sydney letterhead and can reveal the figures: $800,000 in 2024; $900,000 in 2025; and $1 million in 2026. It would appear $2.7 million over three years is not over the odds for a player of his enormous potential, despite Suaalii being only 19. Suaalii has a unique contract with options in his favour that make him effectively a rolling target for opposition clubs.

I can definitely see him getting that sort of money on his next deal, and I'd love it to be with us. But I'm not really sure how we could justify that sort of contract in our squad, especially if we're talking about our best current player getting that money on his next deal.

A quick way to loose control of a club's cap management is to give players " unique contracts" & thereby make them
"a rolling target for opposition clubs" & rugby . We have been reading on this forum in recent days about how astute the Roosters are with their player management so watch this space .
