So Talakai's full season of being a standout on the Jets and his performance/attitude/work-rate in the 4+ months of pre-season had nothing to do with it? Just the trial games?

ATM sounds like he has a contract with Jets and train and trial with us* so it would fit with that but how it works with approval, salary etc remains to be seen.
*it looks like possibly train and trial with us may have been in place prior to the trial, based off Eels not having enough eligible players for their trial so they got exemption for three ineligible players.

Who knows what the 'interest' from us looked like? Kinda seems like we are dropping a call to any half decent players off contract and maybe that's all it is. Manager said 700k a year and he's yours and we said 'oh, 700k?... nah'
Article also suggests his preference may be to stay in the halves which would mean retaining him means either not keeping SJ or perhaps looking at an SJ/Hughes combo and hoping we could move on Chad.
We can't really tie up 1.2 million in Hughes and Chad at halfback.
Can't say at 700k I'm super interested in him as a fullback either.

No harm in trying but let’s be honest there’s not a great deal of halfbacks around and he’s come off a very good season and won a comp. Easily worth more than 400k imo
I like the Sharks going after him but for what position? Who misses out or do we want him at fullback?
