Unclear how I'm supposed to be reading this? Genuine wish of good luck or...?

The timing is actually fantastic for him, June 3 gives him a few weeks he could train with a club looking for a hooker to prove he deserves their last roster spot before June 30 deadline.
More likely than not someone being a bit thin on hookers is his best bet to get an NRL contact but at least he can also resume playing NSW/Qld level.
If he keeps fit I could imagine a club who is down their first or second choice hooker having a look at him as a backup option.

Possibly, that's his only chance.

Showed very little in 2018 with us and 2019 with Brisbane.

I like him from his time with us, imagine he'd be stoked just to get back and play at any level. Might be able to play cup with old mate Norman or Moylan by then if they don't get their **** together.
Feels like he was also unfairly done by to have to wait this long for an outcome but I guess worthwhile if they were deliberating a reduced suspension.

I expect he'd be an extremely handy Cup hooker still (even if as an impact player) but a deep roster spot would be his best bet for NRL, if he was in a position to start for anyone by the time his ban expired I'd definitely want him drug tested again!

Would we have a better option for depth hooker this year than a fit Seggy? Maybe it's just fond memories, but could possibly give him a little cash for the second half of the year, then it's up to him. I know we have a bit over $50k doing nothing

Wouldn't Seggy be walking straight into an integrity unit investigation to whoever signs him?

Kind of the point of that trial to give the fringe/dev/train&trial guys some footy and see what they can do.
Don't think it is too unreasonable that the guy who did the best out of that be talked about for a contract of some kind...

Get's extra chatter because it was so left field

yep, would we prefer these sorta blokes don't have a standout game? then we would really have little reason to talk about them. what about the more prepared and seasoned campaigners? what does it say about where they are at if they were mediocre? 1 good game at least shows you a bloke has some ability while ofcourse 1 bad game doesn't confirm a player is not worthwhile

I don’t understand why they have to announce an announcement? Why can’t they do it at the time they’ve planned without saying anything? Invite the press by all means but 24-48 hours notice should be enough.

48 hours is almost a guarantee there won't be an announcement - it holds no sway these days

I'd just like to announce I'll make comment in 9 days. Thank you.

appreciate the heads up but the suspense will kill me

I heard we are announcing Cameron Smiths retirement for him.

of all clubs I think we have earned that right. he got sent off at shark park and we beat him in a grand final plus he is mates with Gal

he wasn't always great but at the same time was very good for us in more than a few games. changed the dynamic replacing jayden many a time. reckon he won as a game or 2 off his efforts.

imagine if you were the dragons, surely you would have preferred to take a punt on segs as opposed to signing a relatively plod like hooker in McCullough. but Hook wants to play Hook ball and a creative player would upset that even if the dragons had the heads up on segs return . maybe McCullough will work out for them but I doubt he can replace what they lose in McCinnes

Wouldn't Seggy be walking straight into an integrity unit investigation to whoever signs him?

why, if he is cleared to play and come back to NRL whats the problem ?

Not the ASADA stuff, but the fisticuffs the other week

Given Corey Norman was also involved seems like it should be a bit of a known outcome by then.

Also seems harsh to suspend someone who 5 months earlier, whilst not an active/contracted NRL player became involved in a fight because they were racially abused and Corey Norman started a fight about it.

Poor old Feki is having an absolute fek of a time in the UK.
Only managed 1 game last year through injury and has now ruptured his achilles in pre-season training!

Is there a sharkie player that has left and gone onto greater heights ? (In recent times)

They all seem to fade into nothing after leaving

I’ve noticed that too! There are a few though;

- JAC (as Snowy said)
- Frizell
- Ferguson
- Capewell
