So if Capewell, Prior and Bukuya all go, which is looking entirely possible, are we potentially looking at a bench of Magoulias, Rudolph, Wilton/Sorenson and Hamlin-Uele for 2020? Or have I missed somebody? That’s all assuming we don’t sign a cheapish forward.

We have to spend to retain Capewell but Prior and Boogs actually free up some money if they go so I would want to use that to try and get a forward at least at the level to contest a spot with Wilton/Sorensen, if not be clearly ahead of them.

My impression of Billy is that he probably wouldn't have the outside back utility of Capewell? Not sure if he'd be able to adequately cover the centres for instance?

yeah but we can shuffle other ways.

If a centre goes down move Nikora there, maybe Wilton if he's on the bench next year.
If a wing goes down push Ramien or Xerri to the wing and see above.

It's nothing most other clubs do now anyway.

why do we have to retain capewell? he is way down the pecking order of retentions for mine

teig or nikora could easily cover centre

we probably have the luxury of more versatile backrowers than any other teams

not many clubs would be able to grab their second rower and play him in the halves

Because he always does his best and has neat hair?

I didn't say I want to retain him or we should retain him, I was addressing the last part of CMs post by pointing out Capewell is (currently) gone regardless but the other two actually free up some money to allow us to impact the bench that he has listed.

I meant if all three are leaving. I didn’t mean Capewell or Boogie etc. I know Capes is probably gone anyway. My post was asking if we lost all three would our bench probably look like this.

I'll start again haha

Yes with Capewell leaving if the other two also leave the bench will probably look similar to how you have described.
But if the currently contracted players, Prior and Bukuya, were to go that would free up some money. In that instance I would like to see some spent on a new forward who would be at least good enough to contest for a spot on that bench.

Further to this ^ our forward depth looks mighty thin if a player goes down, so I'd say if we lose Capewell, Bakuya and Prior then we'll pick up atleast one other middle forward imo.

Basically would leave...

Props: Fifita, Woods, BHU, Rudolf, Cruz
Edge: Graham, Nikora, Wilton, Milne
13: Williams, Magoulias, Sorensen

Gets very thin very quick, even though a few could switch around as needed.

Another prop contesting with Rudolf would be good. Another edge between Nikora and Wilton would be good also, although Sorensen/Wilton could probably fill in there short term if needed.

I don't think Milne is that high up the pecking order, atleast he shouldn't be from the games I saw.

I think Joliffe might get a look in next year, he's improved massively this year and looked really good on Sunday.

I think we need a Heino signing.

Some bloke with a bit of experience who tries his guts out, provides a bit of toughness but is mid-tier expense.

And Clubman (until he goes elsewhere and calls for us to be relocated once retired)

I listed him last for his position and suggested others could fill in before him, not sure where else you want him?

updated list
Edge: Graham, Nikora, Sorensen, Rudolf, Williams, Magoulias, Fifita, Woods, BHU, Ramien, Dugan, Chad, we just forfeit, Milne

I'd love Jackson but there's no way he'd come at the right price.

Packer would be the perfect pick up in these circumstances. Cheap and heaps of potential to perform above his pay grade.

Yep I’m a fan. Should hopefully get a deal.

Would Packer even be that cheap? I’m not so sure.
