what's the go with this? is he asking too much for an NRL contract?

There could be some baggage too that we aren’t aware of, but clubs are. That would put a bit of a gap between what’s being offered and what he is worth as a player. Does seem weird though for a player like Merrin to go to England willy nilly

That cows pack is downright scary with mcguire there. Lolo, scott, mclean, mcguire and Hess are big ****ers. Halves should have a field day playing off the back of that.

We can only hope that means less money to offer Val.

Apparently it’s a 3.2 million dollar deal. Guessing 4 years at 800k a season. With the likes of Lolo, Morgan, Maclean on huge dollars, I don’t see how they could afford 1 mil a year for Holmes now.

Holmes, morgan and lolo on mil deals, plus mcguire and mclean on close to 1.5, in addition to minimum wage for 25 players is 7mil. Leaving 2.6 for the others to get above minimum. Obviously you can't rely exactly on those numbers but surely we can blow them out of the park.

Barba wouldn’t be on anything less than 500-600k I would say. Also Granville would be on a decent wicket.

Plus hess, Cooper, McDonald, Scott would be on decent coin

If Holmes goes i don’t think it will be for the coin.
I think the cows only need to be within 80% -85% of our offer if its truely for family reasons.
if we offer $1m then the difference in take home $ will only be $75-100k after tax (roughly) which might be acceptable to him to go!

Yeah completely get the angle. If they get Val they will have an insanely scary team.

CRONULLA’s vice-captain Wade Graham has put off any contract negotiations with the Sharks until he knows who will coach them beyond next year. Graham is technically free to negotiate with other clubs now and headlines a list of high profile options for clubs.

Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan is off-contract at the end of next year. The future of his son Kyle and budding first grade star Blayke Brailey will also be impacted by Flanagan’s contract status.

Not sure if it has been posted yet - former Sharks superstar fullback Matty Wright is off to Rockhampton to play with Dave Taylor and the Capras in the Q Cup.
