Lichaa may seek early release

Don't be surprised if dumped Cronulla Sharks rookie Michael Lichaa asks the club for an immediate release over the next month to join the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
One of the hottest young talents in the NRL, Sharks coach Peter Sharp was fuming when Lichaa officially told the club he’d signed a three-year deal with the Bulldogs last Wednesday.
Canterbury officials are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to make a move if Lichaa continues to be snubbed in reserve grade.

The guy is a reserve grader and is gettin more exposure than inglis did.
The papers are using this against the club like they always do. Sharpe stood up for his team. And id be certain its not as simple as 'you are leaving so i have to drop you'. The kid and his dad have been dirty with the club for a while! Why? Cos he hadnt debuted yet? Lose your sense of entitlement lichaa. It wont get him anywhere

Exactly right. Season ends start of october. Pre season start of november. This is the real world, and a professional sport. If players have a month to pack and move from melbourne to sydney or whatever so be it. Most people get 2 weeks notice in real life. A few ideas.
1 month period between gf and pre season where deals are done.
Players seeking release from contract need to be compensated by a player from new club (if this cant happen release cant happen. Both clubs must agree.
Maybe invent a free agency where players can be shopped around etc in their final year. Or kept.
Time to put some power back to the clubs.

It probably will anyway going off our form the last two weeks!
I just hate seeing players disrespecting clubs that have got them to where they are. This is one reason Yow Yeh will go down as one of my favourite non shark players. Players can leave a club but show respect for any club that has looked after you. It's just the basics of being a good person.
