The Sharks are delighted to confirm the arrival of highly rated young centre Michael Gabrael on a three-year contract.

Looks to be pretty strongly built. Wingspan looks pretty decent as well, should make him a decent target for aerial raids, hopefully got a decent pass on him.

Here’s one for some peoples thoughts then

We traded out fullback #3 two years running, both times guys who were approx mid career age-wise
For two tickets in the young player lottery

Where do you think we ‘won’ the trade..?
  • Tracey & Miller wanted out, the tickets alone are worth it
  • One plays an NRL game
  • Both play an NRL game
  • One plays 10+ NRL games
  • Combined 10+ NRL games
  • Combined 20+ NRL games
  • Combined 40+ NRL games
Other?

I don’t think anyone would question it if one played SOO or better, or like 100+ games. We’ve won then unless Tracey becomes an immortal basically.

it’s kind of relevant to my thoughts Tracey likely becomes a starter for a rival NRL team, but still relevant he wasn’t for us.
Miller can kill it in England all he wants he’s basically out of my consideration now.

I guess there are other factors too. If letting either go allowed us to retain or sign other quality players then we kinda can't lose. Also depends on our injuries, if our back 5 are relatively fit all year, again we can't lose releasing Tracey as he would have just played for the Jets. Hard to know if Miller would have stuck around to be a back up when Kennedy got injured this year.

In regard to a direct comparison. I think one has to kick on and be a regular first grader to win it. But that's the point of these trades really, you're taking a risk and you don't really care too much if you don't win, as you haven't lost either.
