Rushed to hospital with a fractured larynx.

“ The larynx (/ˈlærɪŋks/), commonly called the voice box, is an organ in the top of the neck involved in breathing, producing sound and protecting the trachea against food aspiration. The opening of larynx into pharynx known as the laryngeal inlet is about 4–5 centimeters in diameter.[1] The larynx houses the vocal cords, and manipulates pitch and volume, which is essential for phonation. ”

From Sharks “ a significant laryngeal injury was confirmed” so his seasons likely done and depending on how bad potentially played his last game

Not sure if it was then or not, he did come back for start of second half, just watched though and no obvious moment… he started second half miles off the pace though so perhaps was from when he dropped in first half

Must have been in lead up to Tuala try then I guess, looks like Frizs hand or maybe forearm contacts Fifitas throat, hard to tell from footage, certainly doesn't look like much.

Went to uni with a bloke who had that injury playing soccer and was told safer to never play again but obviously some players like Lockyer played professional league for years afterwards.

People on here have loved to hate Andy for the last few years. I really hope this isnt his last game for the club. He, of all players, deserves to get chaired off the field by his team mates in his last match. He gave us all something we started to believe couldnt happen.

He deserves to finish his career on the field at least.

On the flip side, if this were to push him into retirement, it saves any nasty convos in the club with him. No sour taste. Just legendary status for life

Hated on him?

I haven't seen much, if any of that.

Rory Kostjasyn had to retire early because of a whack to the throat during pre season with the Knights. Don't think he even got to play a game with them.

Throat injury is something you can mess with. Pretty likely you're going to cop another whack there again.

Pretty average take, who has loved to hate him?
I've strongly pushed we should try and move him for last couple seasons, probably more than anyone, and not once have I hated him or loved to see him struggle. If your take away has been that I loved to hate him you haven't actually been reading (or understanding) my posts.

I always feared he'd go out with a fizzle, tbh I'd rather see him go out now through injury than just not get selected all next season and then retire, which is pretty feasible and would really suck for such a legend of our club.

Ok this is getting real concerning now.

The other Jack Williams had this in preseason and I think he ended up back is NSW Cup before it stopped, so depends on how serious.

Even if it is just precautionary to stabilise the injury, it would still be bloody scary for him & his family. Get well soon big fella
