You can't tell me there hasn't been any conversation between Bomber and Fifs about this St George story. Surely any coach worth his salt would call the player into his office to find out if there is any truth to the rumour.
I just cannot believe there hasn't been any talk between them about it.

He said neither Fifi or his management have made any approach, so nothing formal. Bomber would waste a lot of time if he called a meeting for every rumour.

I can. How many rubbish rumours are there floating around at any one time. Coach has got better things to do than to address every rumours that pops up.

One thing's for sure, the successful clubs wouldn't be hanging onto an under performing player (be it due to injury or whatever) for two years because they used to be a good player.

We all love the big fella but the reality is it's a business and 850k is a lot of money to be getting zero return on.

This is true. But theres a huge obstacle and that being whether andys happy to leave for less. If Andrew asks for a release to go play first grade at dragons he does so knowing he will earn **** all. Now to me, i think Fifita will want the
Pay day amd either sit in reggies til we shop him or til end of contract.

So the balls probably in our court to shop him and really, with his knees etc i dunno if anyone will want him for anything over 350. So no i dont think its wise to pay 2/3 of a salary to a player not at the club. Spoon contenders are doing that. On that coin the club has a duty (along with andrew) to get him being an asset in first grade.

If he’s fit enough to play first grade for them, why can’t he play first grade for us?

But is it? How can we possibly know what Bomber knows?

Also, if Bomber is convinced he's not up to it, be it because of his knee or whatever, do we want to expose that to St George so they lose supposed interest?

I agree.
This rumour doesn’t sit well with me to start with not only for sentimental reasons but monetary reasons.
My preference is that Fifi kills it in reggies and takes Woods NRL spot (Never been a fan before nor during Woods stint with us)!
If Fifi wants out thou and that’s the only way forward (and I hope it’s not) then we release him on our terms and without a pay day or contribution from us. Might be harsh, but they should be the terms IMHO.
I’d hate to come up against him and he rips us a new one whilst paying half to 2/3rds his freight! Won’t sit well at all.

Form???
Only he and Bomber can answer that I guess!

Jack williams is getting a run. I dont think we have them

He really hasn’t done much wrong this season.
Looking forward to replacing him with Hunt or Takakai but don’t have any particular reason to say he should be dropped.

Yeah I agree with this. He has been fairly good for us so far this year.

There is always injuries as well so I am sure he will play a lot of game time this year.

Yeah was happy with Williams last game, definitely added needed starch in defence as soon as he came on. They were rolling up the field and were outmuscling Cronulla I thought.

Would anyone disagree that a Fifita 90% of his very best off the bench for 15 minutes each side of half time is worse than the other forward candidates ?

Could be a master play by the coach .
Could of played him week 1 , still win without him ( Fitita disappointed )
Week 2 , coach wants to play him but compresses the spring and susses out Williams and Mags capabilities and rewards them fo another weekr for their off season efforts ( Fitita pretty pizzed but GREAT club man) manager leaked to be looking around .
Week 3 , Fifita did well 2 weeks ago NSW Cup but still named 17-21.. Spring fully compressed and Fifita itching to play first grade .
Morris gives him jumper 17

Coach obviously sees things we don't. If Fifita is pulling lazy d efforts like in the trial I'm very happy for him to miss the 17, so long as everyone else is held to the same standard e.g. woods.

I think the problem mate is that we're probably not going to see even a 90% fifita aagain, it at least rarely. Would absolutely love to though

a 50% fit Fifita still offers more than a 100% fit Magoulias.

Look who we are playing ahead of Fifita. Something is definitely not right, he has to be on the outer.

Not buying it.

You reckon Bomber whose job is literally on the line wouldn’t play Fifita if he thought it improved our chances?
If he is dumb enough to tank us and himself to spite Fifita then we do need a new coach.
Fifita has been declining badly last couple years, shouldn’t come as a huge shock it has got to a point where other fringe players start to jump him, but many have been denying it because he’s still managed a couple good games a year or because of what a legend he is (from pre knee injury)

Agree Mate. The NRL is a business and Coaches use their best assets at every possible opportunity. There really is no room for sentiment, irrespective of whether a player was probably instrumental in a team winning a premiership.

I'm sure Fifita is aware of this, especially after almost dumping the Sharks for the Doggies a few years back. Since then, apart from the odd controversial incident, he has been a good club-man.

I don't feel very confident about Fifi's legs coming good any-time soon and I also think that Bomber is giving him every chance for a miracle recovery.

Time to go big fella while you are still able, maybe spend a season with the twin in the UK.
