i think we have plenty of props without signing this bloke. douglas, ross, sua, norrie, selmes, snowden, and i am sure there are others in the lower grades. suppose it makes no difference now, he is signed.

Thats disappointing, I was interested to see how Sua would of went after a full off-season in the top 25.

I would think Sua would still be in full time training with the rest of the squad, it makes no difference that he is not in the top 25, as all it means is that he is not in the top 25 paid players in the club

Peek picks Sharks as club No 6

30 November 2007
Illawarra Mercury

IF anyone should know what a funny old business contract negotiation is in the NRL, it's former Dragons prop Adam Peek.

After all, Peek has just signed with Cronulla, bringing his tally of clubs to six.

The 30-year-old, who made his first grade debut for Adelaide 10 years ago, played 19 games off the interchange bench for the red and whites in 2007.

He was one of their most consistent performers, providing some much-needed experience in a youthful side.

While the Dragons said they would like to retain the bookend's services they cited salary cap restrictions as a stumbling block to a contract extension.

And yet, lo and behold, once controversial show pony Willie Mason came on the market, suddenly there were funds available to make a play for him.

"That was quite funny - it's a funny business rugby league," Peek said.

"I think most players would admit that when they go to negotiate with the club the club's always got no money, but as soon as a player goes on the market that they want they seem to find it.

"Obviously Willie Mason's a different player to me and if they got him it would have been a big signing for the club.

"I was hoping to finish my career there (at the Dragons) but unfortunately it didn't work out, for whatever reason. I was pretty disappointed."

Having said that, the Miranda resident is excited by his new challenge with the Sharks, working under Kangaroos coach Ricky Stuart and playing alongside rising stars of the game Greg Bird and Paul Gallen.

"I think they're going to be up there amongst it (come next year's finals series)," Peek said.

The former Peakhurst Hawks junior had to take a job as a roofer at season's end.

His wife is due to give birth to their second child in two months and the family needed some money coming in.

A good Manager can sell sand to the Sahara by the grain of an hourglass trickle.

This is likely to be Adam's last NRL contract, he's gonna have to call on all his experience to earn a First Grade spot with the Sharks. With the momentum of the 2007-'08 Sharks running the way it is (up up up - IMO), if Peek earns and maintains a spot in the 17 then things are looking way good for the Club.
