Sharks Forever (www.sharksforever.com) is an open and independent website and discussion forum that serves as a resource and archive of information, images and other multimedia content focused on the Sharks (Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks Rugby League Football Club).

Sharks Forever seeks to be a “Sharkopaedia,” providing accurate information about the Club and its players, history and future. It also provides an online forum where registered Sharks Forever members may post comments and discuss matters to do with the Sharks as well as other appropriate off-topic matters.

Sharks Forever is not officially or legally attached to the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks Rugby League Football Club in any way.

Sharks Forever operates as a collective entity that:
  • acts in the best interest of the Sharks
  • maintains itself as a non-profit organisation
  • adheres to editorial independence and freedom of opinion
  • offers both positive and negative opinions and perspectives and encourages discussion
  • is not divisive of the supporters of the Sharks and does not require membership to the Sharks or any of its supporter groups
  • makes every reasonable effort to avoid defaming, libeling or vilifying any individual or group and respects the intellectual property of others
  • is inclusive and welcomes active and appropriate participation by all
  • is fun, informative and engaging
This is a lightly moderated forum and we intend to ensure, as much as we can, that users enjoy a congenial, friendly and respectful environment. We ask our readers to support this aim and to be mindful of the content and tone of their postings. In posting messages here, we strongly urge members to maintain a polite, non-aggressive and non-abusive tone.

Forum Etiquette

Consider this place to be like a dinner party.
You are welcome to stay and enjoy this place, but should you choose to abuse other guests or the hosts then you’ll be asked to behave. If you then continue to act in an abusive and anti-social manner, you will be asked to leave.
At sharksforever.com we understand that Sharks fans feel enormous passion and enthusiasm for their team. As a part of that, we also understand that it is probable that there will be passionate differences of opinion between members from time to time. We ask that you understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that it is appropriate to attack another person’s opinion or argument but it is entirely inappropriate to attack the person.

Posting Guidelines

Rule 1: Don’t be a jerk
Rule 2: See rule 1

Please also do not include any of the following:
  • Discussions about legal matters before courts
  • Links to unapproved match video streams
  • Links to illegal or offensive pages or files.
  • Defamatory material, including allegations of steroid use / salary cap breaches / unverifiable personal allegations etc.
  • Posts, references, links, photos or tags that personally identify another poster, unless that person has previously made it clear that they are happy for their name/photos etc to be public.
  • Excessive unfair criticism of Sharks players. You can't get to this level of footy without being a decent player, and this forum is not designed to be a place for anonymous bagging.

The person who gave you negative rep is not now, nor has ever been, a moderator or admin of this forum.

Does this mean we have to source our own cleaning staff?

I know you've been on the end of a ban but the rules quoted are probably enforced 10% of the time, if that.

Ok... so you're saying that the rules need to be administered 100% of the time?

"It is entirely inappropriate to attack the person."

No, not 100% of the time, where did I say that? It is extremely poorly policed though, deny it all you want. It's a fact.

Thanks for your opinion.

So what is an acceptable, or a "compliant" percentage of time?

20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%?

If you can't keep up, get more mods. The amount of personal attacks is ridiculous.

Apparently we have a compliance expert here. Perhaps he may be able to enlighten all as to how to make a forum of anonymous posters hiding behind avatars compliant.

Perhaps we need to ensure that ALL posters here have their real names and up to date contact details available.

It might be a great step forward in preventing posters making libellous posts.

Happy to go down that path to be honest.

Stop posting rules if you're not going to enforce them. Otherwise, what is the point of this thread and others like this that you have started?

These threads are gentle reminders to people to abide by the forum rules.

It's called soft diplomacy.

If you wish me to put the whole forum on a strict regime of compliance to the forum rules, I am more than willing to put the entire forum into a moderation queue.

It's your choice... is that what you really want or are you just another coward hiding behind an anonymous username trying to throw your weight around?

The guys who have their names attached to this site are wrongly or rightly (wrongly in my opinion) responsible for what all us ****wits say on here.

Those who sook about things getting personal between posters can go cry into their pillows and soak up the tears with their girly pads as far as I'm concerned. If you're the type to be offended by text on a screen then the internet is maybe not your place.

If the guys who run the joint and shoulder the responsibility of our comments feel the need to give a little reminder then so be it. Its not their fault if there are litigious little softies out there that who might carry on about the big nasty anonymous avatar who calls them out.

It's your site so do what you want. I am interested in how you police the rules, that is all. It seems the answer is when you feel like it, so be it.

You accusing anyone in here of throwing their weight around is possibly the funniest thing i have ever read on this forum.

Anyway, I'm obviously on my own on this so I'll just shut up.
