Do you think making Sharkies the spiritual/drinking home of this franchise would be a challenge?
It might be enough of a case there for the Sharks to take a 10-20% share if possible.
in a short answer, no. if the games are being played out of our stadium then it would make the most sense that sharks were the ones that jumped on board for the turnover. how many people do you reckon go in the club doors on game day? 3,4,5 thousand?
a carlton draught is $5.50. 5.5 x 3000 is $16500, 20% is $3300. not a bad takings, and thats without food and spirits put in. then there is poker machine revenue, the tab ect ect. would also help if we got merchandise in our shop as well.
Also, further to the sponsorship possibility - the exposure to Asia through AFC qualification every few years could make the stadium sponsorship worth *significantly* more.
i have had a few thoughts on this, and the first thing on my agenda if we are to land an aleague team would be to upgrade and change the naming rights of the sponsor, i dont think remondis will cut it for both
i think any kind of in ground sponsorship might bring a challenge, as the aleague season finishes during nrl season, so it might be a case of upgrading to LED light signage so it can be changed
an example, but some of our panel signage this year was oporto, it would be a pain to have to have oporto on the signs, then change them a day later to something else for an aleague game
could always ask oporto to upgrade but i think the LED signage would be the go
