Indeed he is a local junior, another Yarrawarrah Tiger boy, in fact! I was talking to his mum up at the Yarrawarrah shops a while ago and she was saying how happy he is to be playing for the Sharks, in fact it is all he has dreamed of since he was four years old.

THIS is what it's about people. Chad Townsedn is the ONLy halfback option we should be considering at this point in time until he gets the chance to prove his worth.

**** all this talk about "sign Moltzn, sign Henry etc etc" really pisses me off! We have our OWN up-and-coming halfback who lives to be a Shark, give him a chance FFS.

Have none of you learned from our "success" of signing over-hyped imports?
Vagana, Ross, Cuthbertson, Collis, Maitua...the list goes on.

Matty Johns should have topped that list

Given our current half situation why has flanno not given him a go? Surely, from all reports, the stars have aligned for chad, he is playing good footy (reportedly) and we need a good half. All other options have not been a success.

If we keep failing in this area and flanno doesnt give him a go then I think flanno may be of the opinion that Chad's not ready yet, and maybe he is looking for a half next year is because he thinks chad won't be ready next year either, regardless of him being a local junior. I cant think of any other reason Chad is not playing.

I don't understand how,
we are fighting for survival in the shire,
have limited local juniors in our first grade side,
need the shire community to get behind the team and turn up to the game,
Yet,
some people here don't see the value in nuturing a local talent, opting to sign imports who really at this stage, do not offer much more then what we currently have.

The future needs to be with a strong junior systems transforming sharks juniors into first graders. Bring on the Chad.

anybody who thinks Scott Porter is the answer has no knowledge of Rugby League and has lost the right to comment on here.

Just the heads up. We are talking about Chad Townsend. Makes your comment look little silly now.

Hey Pal I can read, and I know that Chad is getting talked about on this page. But if you go back and and read the WHOLE thread you will see that this is a debate about the number 7 jersey. Scott Porter has had loads of mentions.

There's only one person looking silly and that's YOU.

PS Give Chad a go.

settle down boys lets kiss and hug and give chad a go. i think whilst porter played very poorly on monday he was also behind one of the slowest play the balls ever and a forward pack with little go forward. then on top of that he had hopeless field position.

Anyone wanting to rush chad into this side isn't thinking about Chad at all. He is only young and need to be put into the side when he is ready for it. If it is too soon it will cause a lot more harm than good and could potentially set back his deveolpement more. I wouldnt be surprised if chad didnt get a run at all this year. He would be in next years plans, not in this years at all.

I think we have the halves combo to last us for a while. Kelly/Graham is all we need. They are the youngest halves in the comp. Its called being PATIENT. Rome wasn't built in a day and these kids aren't gonna be massive over night. If Graham goes to 13 in the next couple years there is always Chad when he is ripe enough. Bringing new players to the club and expecting them to develop combos over and over again is ridiculous.

Think of how bad of a position we would have been in without Porters kicking game aswell

I think graham is a great player but not a great 1/2. When the pressures on he appears to choke sometimes (maybe second guess himself), and the reliance on him to postion himself to get a good kick away is pointless.

I know there is discussion on henry coming here (which is probably the most realistic 1/2 option out there - in the nrl) but henry is playing with mullen who is experienced. If henry was to come here, we would have 2 inexperienced halves which in my opinion is one of the area's of concern in the halves currently - experience.

Dont want robson.

Would love us to make a play for Thomas Leului, as someone mentioned previously he can move into the hooking position if chad forces his way into f/g, and has international experience.

Dont know much re. esl contracts, but googled him and there are numerous articles about him being contracted to wigan but looking for an nrl contract for 2012.

Man of the match in last year’s British Super League grand final win.

don't rate leulai as a 7 at all like him in the 9, he was moved to hooker when tim smith played there so that's saying something. Henry is the best option on the market atm but after thinking about it we should stick with chad (even though there is a massive chance that henry will be a representative half one day.
