It's not Scott porters fault that mills can't catch a ball, or Morris running all the way to the line and giving porter the ball right under pressure, or having outside back with zero elusivness. A 7 can create, but when there are no players capable of making a break in the team, you are always going to struggle.

Lol, porter is dirt.
He has created sweet **** all in firsts and scored less tries in 20 games than mills has in 2.
The sooner ak comes back the better

Weird how in this thread people are like woo Townsend! But in another people want Beau Henry.

I have hardly seen him play, but from all reports he is a future NRL quality genuine half back, something we needed after Noddy left.

Beau > chad

But happy with either

i dont think at this stage you can split them

Yep well then why not stick with the player who has gone through the Shark's ranks and the (im assuming) local junior. Imagine how heartbreaking it will be if Henry, Graham and Kelly keeps Townsend out of the 17, and he moves on to bigger and better things at another club (see Campbell).

To be fair, Henry was absolutely dominant when he was in the NYC and he did win NYC Player of the Year. Chad might, but its unlikely.

That said, I think Chad suits our team better. He's a 'team' halfback, like a Cooper Cronk rather than a JT- someone who does all the unglamorous things that allow the flashy players around him to do their stuff... guys like Kelly, Graham (if he slots in the backrow), Gardner, De Gois/Morris, and hopefully Peachey.

I don't see why people are bagging Porter saying "he doesn't set the world on fire or dominate the opposition" - we already knew that. It's just that at the moment, with Townsend not ready, Graham more suited to 5/8 or lock and Smith being about as dependable as asking Homer Simpson would be guarding your beer, Porter is about our best option. We aren't saying he's the messiah or that he's the newest Joey or JT, but ATM he looks to be our only option - so why don't we at least try to support him because at least we know with Porter we have a player passionate about the jersey and who will always give 100%.

I would be throwing overs at Moltzen to get him here. I think henry is a great individual player but he could be years away from directing our team - too inexperienced. Moltzen, whilst not being the most skillful 1/2 out there is experienced, mature and could direct us around in the way our young backs need to be.

Isnt he No#1 half for them and MOltzen second?

with the money from Snowden, Douglas, Aiton?

Have a crack at Cooper Cronk.

Cronk is reportedly on $250k (zero tackle) and taking up not much of the cap space. He is also tied up until 2013 so i doubt they would let him go.

And a boat!!! I know but in terms of cap pressure - his contract is surely not putting the heat on them.

Has any really had a good look at Lui? could he be a option until a local gets his time up.

these posts, like alot of mine don't make any sense. Moltzen is probs one of the more skillfull halves around and I was all for him coming here but then I thought about it more and realised he doesn't have a noted kicking game and doesn't really lead the team around, benji does.

Lui is 21/22 years of age if we were to get him we wouldn't need to be waiting for a local junior to come through, he would be the future.

As for henry I would be stoked if he came here as he is a leader and would be very good for our team but I won't be dissapointed if we don't get him as chad deserves a shot and is the perfect fit for our team if AK is firing.

Indeed he is a local junior, another Yarrawarrah Tiger boy, in fact! I was talking to his mum up at the Yarrawarrah shops a while ago and she was saying how happy he is to be playing for the Sharks, in fact it is all he has dreamed of since he was four years old.

THIS is what it's about people. Chad Townsedn is the ONLy halfback option we should be considering at this point in time until he gets the chance to prove his worth.

**** all this talk about "sign Moltzn, sign Henry etc etc" really pisses me off! We have our OWN up-and-coming halfback who lives to be a Shark, give him a chance FFS.

Have none of you learned from our "success" of signing over-hyped imports?
Vagana, Ross, Cuthbertson, Collis, Maitua...the list goes on.
