Was busy getting the kids ready for bed for this game and missed it. Checked the score at 18-0 and thought, not tonight satan. Very surprised to check back later and see we'd won.

There’s always the replay.
Just start watching with 15 to go in the first half

So now we are winning not only OUR milestone games but OTHER teams milestone games lol 🤩🥳🥴 What a crazy turn of fortunes.

We looked shot after 15 mins, players demoralized and frustrated, Ref giving us a good ol reaming against our Bogey team. Were on the cards for a shellacking and generally a miserable game of footy.

Canberra might be know as the Faiders but they never seem to fade against us - until this game.

Ironic that our defense (which was shoddy in opening 15 mins) is what actually turned the game (& Trindall Try) and kept us ahead later in the game.
We seemed to have the advantage over Raiders when it came to fitness and discipline too. Raiders had nothing left @ 80 mins as Katoa strolled over.

We could have gone more rounds with em but they were done. Both teams made same amount of tackles over the course of the game so it wasn't like we didn't have to do any defense.

Perhaps the Raiders parked the bus somewhat mentally / attitude wise but we still had to outplay them, which we did with some really good trys and ace goal kicking from Nicho which essentially gave us the margin to win the game.

Didn't think we would have the aggression or mongrel in the forwards to get over them with to many 'nice guys' in our pack but it didn't matter as our forwards execution of play was better and our aggression was more controlled opposed to rabid or mongrel.

Interesting in first half we focused so much on going up the middle with fast ptb and passes from the ruck opposed to going wide early where in theory our strength is.

Even camped on their line we did alot of charges up the guts which is actually pretty normal play for us these days. Often not spreading it until play 4 or 5.

Guess it's good that we backed our forwards and tactics in an area we were expected to have a disadvantage. Might have caught the Raiders out a little too.

Ricky said in the pressor that half our squad was Newtown (bit of an exaggeration there) but it's nice he gave us credit and didn't offer excuses about his teams showing, he was filthy with em "none of em were solid mate" haha that line got me, like something we would say on the forum about our team.

We are guilty of it as well (warriors game last year) , but I maintain sometime teams get to their points too early, if raiders are 18-0 up after 35 min we ain’t coming back, but they got their in 15min and flick to easy options, rarely do storm or panthers take foot off their opponents throats.

Or another example, the infamous Talakai demolition game - we won 34-22 but didn't score a point in the second half other than a penalty goal 78 minutes through.

Sometimes you have such a comfortable lead you allow momentum to build against you without stressing and it starts to overrun you before you realise and need to try and turn it back. The Talakai effort is legendary now but we gave up 22 points in one half that game so far from an overall great performance. We did enough for long enough to still win but 66 minutes in it was 32-22!

haha typical Raiders whining. You can see Atkinson walking past as he missed the kick so he was there to check on Atkinson after he came off.
