we can’t beat these guys at our best. I think we get thumped again.
it sucks but it’s the reality
Don’t think we’ll get thumped. Really don’t see us playing that bad 2 weeks in a row. If we do then we’re in serious trouble so early in the season.

Assuming they need two more on the bench (BHU and Dale both unavailable) I would start Burns at second row and add Blake Hosking to dev list. He played 80 for the Jets yesterday. Even pushed the great Billy Mags to the bench.

I'd also carry Iro as #17 as the "luxury" guy. Any injury in the forwards you move Sifa.

8. Kaufusi
9. Brailey
10. Hazelton
11. Burns
12. Wilton
13. McInnes
-
14. Williams
15. Hau Tapuha
16. Hosking
17. Iro
i like this, even though williams was ok in the second row. i think we missed his runs and defence in the middle around that 20 min mark. i dont think it was a coincidence that we fell away at that point of the game. that plus the hia to rudolph. was olso surprised how long it took to get burns on considering we were down middles.
you would have to think mcinnes would play close to 80
tapuha would have 2 or 3 short stints with the others playing big minutes
hoskings is a good call, i was impressed in the trials with his workrate, also didnt seem to drop off a lot of tackles
iro as you know has played second row in ressies

You like Hosking more than Fearnley burgo?
Is that because he plays more minutes or are you showing your bias for locks?
Bias for locks obviously. They’re like Pokémon or Lays chips.

Have always liked Hosking. Also thought he was next best of the non-NRL middles after THT in trial #1. Is ahead of Max by a long way for mine.

For this role I think Hosking would be a good fit. Load Cam up with 65-70 mins and have Blake just play 7-8 either side of half time. He is no frills. Could handle it imo.

Hosking also did NRL pre-season and is part of the squad. Fearnley went straight to Jets. I think a player who has trained with the squad since November is more chance of getting a run than a guy from the Jets who hasn’t.

Having said all of this about Hosking, you could make a similar argument for Berrell playing the same role. He defended well in the trial too. Hosking would be a better taking hit-ups but you could make Berrell a tip-on merchant for 10 minutes.

Would be good to see another Qlder get a run in Sharks jumper. Was plenty in the John Lang days and under Flanno (5 in 2016 GF plus Capewell 18th man).

Tricky carrying the torch atm.
(Atkinson's 2min cameo aside).

That's cheating Chad.

Who have you got in if BHU isn't fit?

Extended bench is easy. Stonestreet, Hiroti, Bradbury, whoever (Dykes?)

:ROFLMAO: @Sevshark I don't mean I've backflipped on Hosking.

I just mean that if Berrell is the bloke picked I could see why he's also a viable option. I'd pick Hosking.

Sharks: Coach Craig Fitzgibbon heads into Round 4 missing 491 games worth of experience in the middle of the park, with Dale Finucane (facial injury), Royce Hunt (calf) and Toby Rudolf (ankle) picking up injuries last week and joining Braden Hamlin-Uele (hamstring) on the sidelines. It means Kayal Iro comes in at centre, allowing Siosifa Talakai to go into the second row and Jack Williams to return to the bench. Daniel Atkinson and Tuku Hau Tapuha are the new faces on the interchange.

Raiders: For the second round in a row there is no room for Corey Horsburgh, with the Queenslander listed in the reserves after playing NSW Cup last week. There are a couple of changes in the backline with James Schiller coming in for his first NRL game of the year on the wing and Seb Kris returning from concussion at centre. Fullback Jordan Rapana will make his 200th appearance for the club.

Injuries have forced Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon to make a series of changes for the Round 4 Easter Sunday blockbuster against the Raiders at PointsBet Stadium.

Middles Dale Finucane (eye socket fracture - 2-4 weeks out), Toby Rudolf (syndesmosis injury - 3-6 weeks) and Royce Hunt (calf strain - 4 weeks) are in the casualty ward following last Saturday's 32-6 loss to Wests Tigers.

A full medical update on the trio will be published shortly.

In their absence, Fitzgibbon has elevated cult hero Tom Hazelton to start in the front row alongside Oregon Kaufusi, with explosive prop Tuku Hau Tapuha called onto the interchange for his second NRL match as a Shark.

After playing as a second-rower against the Tigers, Jack Williams is set to revert to his usual role off the bench and bring impact in the engine room.

That will allow Siosifa Talakai to shift from centre to an edge forward, with talented young back Kayal Iro poised to line up inside left winger Ronaldo Mulitalo.

Having made his club debut on the weekend, versatile forward Billy Burns has retained his spot on the pine. Captain and lock Cameron McInnes is free to play after accepting a $750 fine for a Grade 1 careless high tackle charge.

Daniel Atkinson, capable of playing at fullback or in the halves, has been included on the bench. Atkinson has played one NRL match for Cronulla to date.

Looks like you might get your man @BurgoShark!

Happy with that but would prefer a bigger body over Atkinson.

I’ve been firmly in the “keep Talakai in the centres” camp for a while, but I feel like it might be necessary to temporarily move him over a spot into the second row, just until Nikora is back on deck. I hate fiddling with a settled spot in the team to try to put a bandaid over another part of the team, especially since Sifa’s been one of our form players so far, but it should be ok for a week or two to help out in an injury crisis.

I was completely onboard with Williams filling in at backrow last week, just felt we missed him in the middle and when he finally moved there, he had a bigger impact on the game, plus with who we have out, he’s required back there in the middle now.

Good excuse to see what Iro can do as well.

1. Kennedy
2. Katoa
3. Ramien
4. Iro
5. Mulitalo
6. Trindall
7. Hynes
8. Kaufusi
9. Brailey
10. Hazelton
11. Talakai
12. Wilton
13. McInnes (c) (is he being charged?)

14. Tuku
15. Williams
16. BHU (Apparently he’s good to go?)
17. Burns

If we dont want to do that you could maybe bring Berrell onto the bench and maybe shoehorn him into a running lock role or alternative dummy half for 20 mins or something. Or you could take the punt on Bradbury, but it sounds like he might need a bit more cooking in reserves.

I dunno just throwing those ideas out there and seeing what sticks.
Ah man I was one off. Dammit Big Ham. 😂
