Just informed my wife of the rumour of possibly sharks in Vegas next year. She said I should go.. very tempted if we do get a gig. I’ll stew on it of few months.

Noticed on NRL site (Ladder) that this year teams are given 2pts for bye at start of round rather than end of round. And to think the Tigers for 80mins led the ladder. Unless there is a draw, they will be out of 8 by end of round.

Aren’t these the guys who were willing to be flown over for a few days of media during offseason.
Only to have to take the huge flight home and then back again like a few weeks later or whatever it was.

So they sent who was willing to go.

Keep in mind also, Americans don’t know who any of the players are no matter who we send. Makes no difference to them Woods spoke at an NFL game but then wasn’t in the field for the NRL games.

Do you think it would have been hard to find volunteers? Under the circumstances I'm sure the clubs would have accommodated.
It's your first proper crack at the US market. You shouldn't be down to 'whoever was willing to go'. I just feel it highlights an issue the game has.

For example... I've worked at a couple of companies that have looked at sponsoring NRL clubs and players. The verdict was a no in the end, solely because we couldn't find suitable talent we were confident enough in to put our name next to for a full season.

The NRL now has to face the possibility that some of those US headlines will be about those alleged racist remarks, which would be an awful blow after the general positivity generated.

Mostly it's just disappointing that you can't find four guys in the NRL who can all act like semi-decent human beings for a few weeks, even with the games biggest spotlight on them.

To fly all the way to USA for like 5 days (?) to do some media stuff during offseason just before Xmas?
Yeah I can definitely imagine not everyone volunteered

I also don’t think sending Turbo, Teddy, Trell and Walsh achieves much more… although Walsh did also go over early for a bit too

No indication they acted poorly while over there for media either. Just one of the teams has a bloke with temper issues and no self control once the actual game started. That was always a risk.

I’m not seeing a big correlation between talent levels at clubs Australian companies considered sponsoring and Aaron Woods answering a few poor questions during an NFL game either

Broncos superstar Reece Walsh has been hit with a mid-air ban for a shoulder charge on Roosters winger Daniel Tupou in Las vegas which will leave him with a decision to make when he arrives home from the US.

Walsh faces a two-game ban if he fights the charge and loses at the NRL judiciary, or he can cop a $3000 fine for an early plea
