Be that as it may, this is the sort of thing clubs should be getting onto and raising the question with the "journalist".

'Why are you bringing our club's name into this when it has nothing to do with it?'

It is pathetic.
Agreed, but would you expect a decent standard of journalism from that rag?

Fair enough.

Does anyone think being mentioned as his former club in the third paragraph of an article has any negative effect on our team?
Yeah of course it does

There was no need to mention his former club of 3 years ago

These writers know what they are doing

Which genius at the NRL decided to schedule a final up against a 90,000 crowd next door on Friday night ?

Could have had a free swing on Sat night or Sunday in Melbourne .

I know , I know - turn arounds and TV - but really ???

Yeah they had no choice mate, unfair on Newcastle to play on Sunday then the following Friday when it's avoidable.

Would it really make a difference anyway? Doubt many of the 90k AFL fans would go to a Storm game. Maybe those that live in Melbourne would have a better idea.

All true mate - they would turn up if nothing else on - it’s Melbourne !

It’s gong to look pretty poor on TV - they’ll do the usual trick and sell the tickets on the far side first .

Another reason I would have loved us to have a crack in this game - a ground devoid of atmosphere - clutching I know !!

I don't pay for their articles either.

Yes, they said a lot before getting to that part. But that is beside the point.
Agree

Don’t need to drag a club that he hasn’t been involved with for 5 + yrs into an issue arising now.

Throw mud at his current club 🤔

Or the NFL culture 😉

Mid year transfer deadline to go back to June 30.
Also:

*Clubs are allowed to field players outside top 30 at any stage in season
*Players developed by clubs with less then 6 games experience (Cup or NRL), will no longer be able to be approached by rival clubs until after round 6 of their final year of contract

AOB is already contracted for the next 2 years .

Why on earth would you extend that at this time .

The bloke was packing his office up 10 weeks ago.

Completely over the top - just wait and see - no one is going to be banging the door down for the bloke ..

Definitely appears unnecessary from the outside doesn’t it.

With them picking DCE, Walker and Dearden as well I don’t see where Hynes plays. Maybe fullback?
I wouldn’t usually say this as I back him as a halfback (but he can play other positions), but he probably is the best fullback named.
I think more likely either he or Dearden is 18th man

Really hope he gets a game in the starting 13. For his confidence more to an anything. Would be a good thing for him to end the year on a high and really put this year to bed.

Don't like this.

NRL documentation: Last Right of Negotiation clause

Every player must provide his incumbent Club with a last right of negotiation for a 10-day period from the date of notice that the player has received an offer from a rival Club, and that offer has been submitted to the NRL, that he is prepared to accept. In order to give effect to this clause:

a) the player must provide notice to his incumbent Club that he has an offer that he will accept in 10 days’ time (subject to negotiations with his incumbent Club);

b) the Club can then engage in contract negotiations with the player for a period of up to 10 days, or the Club may waive its rights in writing (at which point the player is free to sign with the rival Club);

c) the offer from the rival NRL Club must be an official offer and submitted to the NRL Salary Cap Auditor (the contents of which will remain confidential, but the NRL Salary Cap Auditor can provide verification to the incumbent Club that an official offer has been received). The offer must remain open for acceptance for a minimum of 14 days, and for at least 48 hours beyond the expiry of the 10-day negotiation period with the incumbent Club. There is no requirement for the player to disclose the terms of the offer to his incumbent Club;

d) at the expiry of the 10 days, the player may sign (or reject) the offer from the rival Club.
**** no, that is so unreasonable to the players it's not funny
