Because Fitz realised he deserved to play, so injured a bunch of people in front of him. Obviously.
Could’ve easily named Metcalf - like you love to say he’s the coach and he sees what the players do and how they are like at training - he will pick the best players on the day.

About time.. Fitz with the brains coming through and realising Tracey ain’t no centre and Fifita getting rewarded for his hectic trial form
NRL games are unlimited interchange, right?

Beat out a dude who plays a completely different position and has played 6 games of NRL. Beat out literally zero top 30 squad forwards.

Everyone on here was impressed and happy with how Fifita trialed, you're acting like he's picked up a jersey in a fully fit 17.

I do feel comfortable he should go okay at least but BHU and Rudolf starting with Talakai, Hunt and Fifita on bench means someone (probably a couple people) are going to be playing a lot more than their optimal minutes.

It amazes me how referees think they can identify when a player is milking. Do they think they can get inside the player's brains or something? They usually play favourites with this. Let's hope the ref we get Friday night is a good one. I don't mind Grant Atkins or Adam Gee - the others are nothing short of disgraceful. I'd even have Kasey Badger or Belinda Sharpe before I'd have Cummins, the Sutton brothers et al.
Many blokes would mate

Back rowers play 80
Brailey plays 80.
Need to cover 240 minutes.

BHU + Hunt = 40/40
Rudolf + Talakai = 45/35
Finucane + Fifita = 60/20

... or something like that.

Still have Tolman spare to play big minutes in case of injury.

Yeah I guess the 4th man on the bench fixes it doesn't it, should be fine actually.
I'd probably be aiming for less than 40 for Hunt too but if everyone stays on the park very easy to rotate everyone's minutes a lot.

Maybe have Finucane do around 30, then Tolman replaces him for 30 then Finucane finishes game. Keeps the 13 jersey pretty consistent and solid.
Then BHU, Rudolf, Talakai, Hunt & Fifita split 160 mins with BHU and Rudolf doing about half of it.
Could even see Talakai make an end of game appearance for Teig just to get some more game time across the bench options.

So Jesse Colquhoun and Hazelton got contracts after all? I thought they only had Jets contracts. Im happy for them, hope they gets a chance at some stage.

Tracey’s full omission from the 24 is a bit iffy. Injured?

EDIT: Just saw the casualty ward thread. Tracey has a groin complaint

Obviously would have liked a few of our players not injured and up for selection but given our injuries it is still a very good side. The big bodied on the bench suits the team we are playing. Sure Fifita might be last man standing in the forwards, but happy for him to get a couple games and see how he goes under Fitz

Can’t wait to see Fifita play under a proper coach again

With all the players we are short that is a pretty decent lineup. Fittzy was always going to pick Ikuvalu. Even if Tracey was fit I wouldn't be surprised if he put him at #14 utility & Ikuvalu on the wing.

Otherwise when Graham, McInnes, Trindall & Tracey are all fit & available it will be interesting to see the 17.

Pretty bloody ordinary of the coach to start kicking blokes in the knee.

Phone call to the NRL request Pele is suspended is also poor form.

Pulling Connor Tracey’s groin though. How do you even do that?

Hard to say. Maybe they just got an extra week of $$ on T&T. It was pre-Covid when all of the Team-list rules were defined. They are a lot more relaxed now. Could be that Fitz just called and asked if they could name 2 guys from the Jets.

Colquhoun is not on a Jets contract btw. He’s only 20 so technically is a Flegg player.

Calhoon Hazelton and Lualua fill the squad, as far as we know all from outside top 30 but assuming Hiroti unavailable numbers add up to allow three from outside top 30

ronnie at centre will be interesting. could turn out amazing.. surprised we ran 4 forward bench over metcalf utility
Not too surprised really, though with Moylan out there you'd want a bit of security. We don't really have an option if he has an issue.
Let's call it a vote of confidence in Moylan.
