How many clubs have been rejected from medically retiring players, and Souths get their two biggest contracts in the space of a few months

Allowing a team to have the right of reply IF a team scores from their first set is better than the current system.

In saying that I'd prefer no golden point, just scrap extra time except in finals.

Then in finals have legitimate extra time so it's played like real footy.

Yep , 10 minutes ( or 5 ) each way ,
Whoever is leading at the end , even give an interchange back .

if they tried to register cronk as a player for 200k they would have blocked it

like the eels trying to register folau for 300k or rapana coming back to canberra on minimum wage

Naa , I meant they could give Cronk absolute minimum whilst playing eg 600K a season for 2 years , but a gentleman's agreement 2 million extra come post retirement as coach .

An emotional Matt Gillett has succumbed to injury and retired from rugby league at age 31, with three years remaining on his Brisbane Broncos contract.

See I reckon it's very risky to have a 31 year old on a contract with three years remaining, so 34 at the end of it.

I really don't know if a club should receive full salary cap dispensation is these situations.

Who knows what the NRL would have seen as Cronks minimum value they would have approved, maybe 600k or 800k with the promise to top up with employment after. Hell for all we know he only accepted a mil with the promise of employment after.
But if it came out that Roosters had also offered him a post playing role and not cleared it with NRL their cap would have got shat on (ie the Farah/West Tigers debacle)

Odds of Gillett seeing out that contract were low, whether through medical retirement or just general retirement.

Wow, Manly signed both turbos for $13M over 6 years. That will be 3 million $ players, there must be many on pittance or the minimum?

They will be raped of their up and comers as they cannot afford them.

Has that been confirmed? There has been talk of it but I haven't seen anything official.
