Why do we want to know how a Storm bench player went mate?

Storm play their best prospects in the Q Cup. While I don’t want their teams to win I watch the top prospects from Brisbane, Melbourne, GC and NQ play a lot so I’m interested in how well they transition. Same for anyone who leaves the Q Cup for an opportunity elsewhere (e.g. Corey Allen), former Sharks juniors (e.g. Salmon) and guys I’ve seen play well in junior/20’s/residents rep teams coming through (e.g. Cory Horsburgh)

Fair enough mate, thank you.

News.com.au has come out and said that Val has been offered a spot with NY Jets on an "International Player Program" placement (Pratice teams only, not a contract).

It will be interesting to see if it's really about his dream or the coin.
I think the IPP players get paid Sweet FA and NQ will be in the Orrs ears about their offer.

I think I read 4 of the 8 or so IPP players get practice squad spots assigned from AFC East (where Jets play) and aren't actually eligible to be signed to a team roster this year.
If that's all correct it doesn't actually mean a hell of a lot.

He should be devastated he didn't get assigned to Patriots - if any team could find a way to make him work as an NRL player they would.

I think practice squad pay is around $200k so still a good sum but not what he could be on here.

Doesn't matter I bet. It's a gap year for him, where he just wants to do something different and have some fun before heading to the Cowboys next year.

Correction to my previous post it looks like he can be elevated out of practice squad and signed to the team or if he is not other teams would also be able to sign him.

Nobody will sign him this year though.

As per standing practice Holmes headlines are misleading...

"Valentine Holmes offered NFL deal by New York Jets"

"Valentine Holmes signs deal with New York Jets"

"Valentine Holmes signs with NFL New York Jets"

"Valentine Holmes NFL contract announcement: New York Jets bound"

"Aussie star has signed a one-year deal with the New York Jets"

While technically true (he would have to have signed something to accept the practice-squad deal) it's not the same as "signing a one year deal" to PLAY for the Jets.

Great achievement regardless.

'Valentine Holmes given 11th spot on 10 man practice squad roster of Jets because it is their turn to adopt a foreign try out player' is a bit too long.

Lucky if he can do a half decent job of seeing out this season at this rate. Looks very long odds to play next.

Years of inner turmoil playing in a maroon jumper starting to get the better of him physically.

All the best to Val, as much as it was shattering not having him in our colours, it's better then him still being here when his heart is not in it.

I really hope he gives it a fair dinkum go and gets to play an NFL game.

I don't like the Jets, but it's better than a NQ or Qld jersey

If he really wanted to be a Jet he'd be a decent chance of getting a run with Newtown
