Was thinking about our kit now and in the coming years.

IDK what role , if any, gorman played in getting the WSW a kit deal with nike, but perhaps we could explore a similar opportunity.

A classy strip, with a fitting sponsor, the WSW debut kits sold like hotcakes ...

We need to not use them as a yardstick, there was a massive market for a yobbo team in the west using a round ball, they fed it, simple

lol I like the way you put it.

I think also, as AB said somewhere and I think Gorman eluded to it aswell, that his experience with the Mariners was bit of a closer comparison to his job at Sharks.

He had to bring WSW into the comp on 2-3 months notice and build a fanbase from the ground up. At Sharks its more about re-engagement.

Also nike doesn't automatically guarantee a better range of gear either. Everton had a few years where nike made their kits and the quality of the stuff I bought (jersey, t shirt and hoodie) was poor compared to le coq sportif who'd been the kit supplier before and umbro which they use now.

They engaged with the community through every part of the selection. From the name, to the colours and I think even the jerseys. I'm pretty sure all were chosen through polls etc.

The results are interesting, considering that we've had sports marketing boffins tell us for years that we need teams dressed in pink and purple pajamas called names like the storm, thunder and fury.

I've seen some horrid stuff from bigger brands. I remember looking at a Socceroos jersey for sale in rebel (nike?) where the printed badge was all smeared. It wasn't just a single defective jersey either, it was like that on all of them to varying degrees. The thing was retailing for about $159 or something ridiculous.

I wouldn't read too much into the success of the Wanderers. We can't have forums for club name and colour, well at least I hope we don't. Plus, westies lap up stuff about westy pride. Similar to the passion that people in the Shire have for the area. The WSW group knew what they were doing about that.

The point is- engagement was one of the key drivers of success. We don't need to do exactly what they did, but engagement itself is fundamental.

I was speaking to the club today about the members jacket. I was informed it was part of the membership package (platinum) and they require my size for it. As I was speaking to brett, I queired whether the names of members would be on the jacket (similar to members Jersey) and was informed it won't be, however as a platinum member they are considering putting the members name and number on it.

I'm all for the jacket as it looks pretty awesome, but would you guys prefer members names all over the jacket (similar to Jersey) or go without the members Jersey next yr (which is happening)

Have you got a photo of the jacket mate? Not sure I'd want my name on it either tbh.
