Happy with the process - think you all are doing a fantastic job - haven't received Tie as yet (I know it's coming not a complaint) but the availability of it is fantastic.

Comment made by co-workers was the lanyard looked "cheap and thin" compared to last year .. I loved last years members cap and agree this years is rubbish .. for a bald fella like me that hat will not protect my head at all .. I def wouldn't wear it to a game even if it was a better quailty .. I'll be wearing the 2011 cap to Suncorp this year.

I also would have bought a platinum package if I lived remotely close but as a QLDer there was no point in my budget .. but a non-ticketed platinum with a signed jersey and a meet/greet the players/dressing room experience in Brisbane etc would have sold me 1000 times over.

haha I can remember last year very clearly. You saying you will go to the game in a fairy costume, the ticket not coming, it arriving last minute and getting it couriered.

Received my Sharknet the other day, and too was disappointed with it. For me, I look forward to the new cap (didn't mind paying for last years cap) as it's something I wear proudly during the winter months around Canberra. I'm not too bothered about anything else that comes with it, as bags as the other bits and pieces that have come with packs in previous years just fall apart within the first few weeks of use. Also disappointed there was no membership card this year as I like to collect them. Living in canberra, I'm not a ticketed member, I'm also a Raiders member (though not a supporter), and this year we get two caps, as the mob in china that made them, screwed up, so they are getting reproduced. Even the screwed up hat is better than the Sharks cap.

Do we know if a similar good quality members cap will be available to purchase this year, as was done last year? Maybe once a sponsor is announced?

3 weeks since I emailed the Club with a question about my membership and not a thing back. If that's an indication of the level of support and communication shown to members I pitty the bloke yet to sign up.

Takes 30 seconds to hit reply and tap out a 2 line email. Not cool :gal:

Mmmm I had a few issues with not getting a response back regarding one of my memberships being sent to Yass instead of Taree. I had to send the email (which politely informed them of the error) 3 or 4 times before I finally got a response telling me the pack would have to be sent out to the correct address. Didn't even receive an apology for the mistake or the use of any greeting, such as Dear ..... or Hi..... or anything.

I don't want to sound like a whinger, as I realise they are very busy at this time of the year but courtesy doesn't cost anything and can go a long way in keeping members.

What was the screw up with the Raiders hat?
A barely noticable green stitching along the white peak of the cap. Personally I don't think anyone would have cared.
And yeah, lime green isn't the nicest colour anyway.

I posted this in another thread, but it probably belongs here. Just my thoughts on membership. Cheers.

While I agree that everyone should become a member, Deathmoth does have a point to some degree.

If you ask the 18-40 year old males on here whether they are happy with their membership package, the overwhelming answer will most certainly be "no". This is a demographic that generally has a high disposable income and is already interested in football. It's also a highly represented group amongst our supporter base. It amazes me how much this demographic is ignored by the clubs and the nrl in general.

People in this demographic don't go for this type of merchandise and only the diehards are going to sign up as an act of charity.

I am a member but I don't really want any of the merch that was included. I think the club need to address this for next year. Instead of the merch pack I would prefer some more useful options for our demographic.

Some suggestions:

- Drink/meal vouchers for the leagues club or ground.
- Pokie vouchers for the leagues club
- Sharksbet free bet vouchers

And if you must have merchandise:

- A more stylish keyring suitable for an adult to put on their car keys.
- A stubby holder
- A coffee mug
- a sharks bottle of wine or port?

Some of the things listed above would probably be cheaper for the club than the stuff they currently provide. Obviously they would need a similar interstate package as well. And maybe they want to steer away from too much alcohol promotion, but I'm sure everyone understands my point.

I realise it's difficult for the club to please everyone, but this just seems glaringly obvious.

I could be all pedantic and mention that I highly doubt the club is allowed to give away pokie vouchers, but it doesnt change your point, a point that I agree with totally.

Yeah, they probably aren't allowed, because we all know that adults must be treated like childen .

But yeah, you get my point.

Agree with this wholeheartedly.

I understand that memberships - particularly unticketed - are about profits, and providing high quality merch eats into that. But it really doesn't cost very much at all to make a high quality, attractive stubby cooler. Even high quality truckers hats are very cheap to get manufactured.

I can't comment on the membership pack because mine hasn't arrived yet.

However, I am concerned about the perceived quality of the merchandise this year based on what many other (respected) members have posted.

I understand that better quality products mean less profit, and I also understand that I am buying the intangible product of membership. I am worried though that in the interests of profit Sharks have neglected the one thing they should be looking after: their members.

An analogy if you'll permit: I sometimes indulge in some fast sushi , generally the handheld rolls that often sell for $3 each. I had my loyal shop that I went to until one day I realised that the 'filling' of the sushi (be it chicken or prawn or squid) was very prevalent at the top of the roll, but absent from the last third. The last third of each roll was just rice.

In the cut-throat world of sushi houses (!) I understood that this was a way to maintain prices while also increasing profits, sort of like when food companies decrease the net weight in a can or bag but maintain the price.

Now, for those still reading, here is the problem. I will not return to that sushi place because I, as the customer, am being deceeived and neglected.

To return to the Sharks, and again all of this is based on the comments of others about the poor quality of the cap, I worry because there are only a finite number of people out there who feel so strongly about the Sharks that the merchandise is not their main reason for purchasing membership. For me, the merchandise isn't the main reason, but I do like wearing the new caps for the year. In fact, I've held off buying one because of that.

If the merchandise is not up to scratch this year, well unfortunately, people have long memories for this sort of thing and it'll just make selling memberships harder for next year, a battle the Sharks do not need.

When I buy intangible membership I like to promote my sense of 'belonging' in the club by wearing and displaying the signs of that membership.

I hope when my pack arrives I get that feeling of 'I'm glad I belong' rather than 'what a rip off'.

(This entire post is based on comments from others. I hope my fears are unfounded cause I'm generally a fairly easygoing fellow!)
