Interesting.

The last half to win the Dally M Captain Of The Year was Scott Prince in 2005. Steve Price has won three Dally M Captain Of The Year awards in representing both the Bulldogs and Warriors. Cap'n Peach won it in 2001 playing from the back as well.

I see the logic in Mark's argument though and tend to believe that it's in a teams best interest to have an 80-minute player act as el capitan. Regardless, the captaincy needs to be handed to the player most likely to pull the troops into line who commands the respect of each of his/her peers on the field and off. That's why I still believe that handing the captaincy to Kimmorley over Peachey (oh yeah, forgive my political incorrectness: Peachey "relinquished" the title) was a bigger mistake than the board was ever willing to admit. Oh well.

i chose porter and dougie personally porter i dont know why but he suits the role and he was a cronulla bred played but dougie has been with us for long time and he works his ass off every game.

i prefer a captain that from the shire and has been with us for long time and is a workaholic

whoever picked porter is kinding themself he will b luck 2 keep his spot all season, kelly should b given a few trial runs if it doesnt work out then keep porter. snowden whilst he was an inspiration with what he did on the field doesn't need the added pressure of being captain perhaps in a few seasons if he continues on the way he is going as he will b 1 of the top props in the game and he needs the experience. my opinion gallen should b captain but due 2 his poor behavior i would like 2 c barrett

I went for the obvious choice and picked Barrett, cos that is who it will be. However, I forgot it was a multiple choice vote and didn't get to put in who I would like to see as captain. I'm going to go into left field on this one and say I would like to see Reece Williams lead the team, if he is fit and back to his old form. He is a local junior and represents the image we want to project as a club.:cheers

It has to be Baz. He is the most experienced player and he is our main playmaker.
Furthermore, he is the safest and most sensible option.

To me, it seems stupid to have the second most experienced in charge. No doubt Baz will get injured throughout the year at some stage. Whoever will be his successor can captain at those times to gain experience.

I don't see why Dougie should be captain. Makes no sense to me. Not to mention he seems like the quiet type.

Stick with Barrett.

it doesn't really matter, because the refs don't listen anyway. make covell captain, because when the ref calls to speak to captains in general play, covell has to come in all the way from the wing, which will give our guys a couple more seconds rest or time to set a defensive line.

Yes, but what happens if there's a call against us, and Covell needs to run in all the way from the wing to speak/argue with the referee, whilst the opposition goes for a quick play?

I'd like to see Tupou get it after Barrett. He seems pretty quiet on the field but I reckon he'd lead by example, plus he deserves more recognition.
