The unpopular federal government probably aren't going to go after the AFL with a big stick either, especially considering they can whack Labor with the same stick instead.

Yep watch the Libs turn this into a Labor lead witch hunt to drum up political support.

Im sure if we'd stuck it out so would we
When I was a kid I had it drilled into me that "cheats never prosper". When I became an adult I learned that just isn't true.

Pretending black is white was not the way to go. At least our problems are on field now.

AFL team found innocent by AFL tribunal.

Wish they let me mark my own homework.

Asada press conf tommorrow to announce weather or not they will appeal deciding tonight. Tax payers Money funding this shamozzle might as well appeal the decision give em a job for a little longer.
What is the point you are making? There should be no government body that checks to see if athletes are drug cheats, or no body at all. Perhaps you trust the NRL to do it?

A body that is intended to keep sport clean is guaranteed a conviction if they put forward a case to answer?

AFL which isn't even a real game by international standards has debased Australian sport and this makes you happy.

So what you lot are saying is if the Sharks had of stuck it out, told ASADA where to go pretty much, then our players too could of been all cleared due to insufficient evidence?

Didn't Essendon also self-declare at the start of this shytestorm?

Something like that anyway. I can't remember every twist and turn, and cant be assed looking it up.

Yep Jobe Watson did. And he told that to ASADA too. Thats why they're spewin.

Dont get me wrong. I'm happy for Essendon, but this isn't the end, ASADA will appeal, even as early as tomorrow.

Essendon were always going to be found not guilty by the AFL, not because they're a golden child, but because the AFL fights tooth and nail to protect its brand.

If ASADA dig in and fight this, this easily has another 24 months in it. The other option is they cut thier losses and divert their focus on the 3 AFL and 1 NRL players with positive tests.

Sorry to anyone here that feels ripped off in regards to our boys, but it still is the best outcome for us. If we fought it, we'd still be put aside while they fight Essendon. Would you really trust the NRL to give us a fair trial over the international game? We'd be 4 years deep in it, millions lost to lawyers, and still facing 2 year bans.

Considering you can get 2 year bans for forgetting to tell ASADA your on holidays in Dubbo for the long weekend, 3 weeks on the sideline was a good outcome.

If this case isn't strong enough then that means pretty much nothing in the future will be either, unless there is a positive test.

So, I expect to see 150kg players that can run 100m in 6 seconds flat in the AFL in the near future.
