At the end of the day, they are paid professionals, they should be wanting to do the best they can for themselves, Sharp to be honest in the footage at half time on the weekend looked like he was going to blow a fuse he was going off that much. So he obviously does care. But where do the players own personal pride come in?

Agree, these players also need to take responsibility for their own attitudes and performances and what they are showing to the fans who come out each week to watch these mugs attempt to play football

In other professions, you don't tend to slack off just cause your usual boss might be away for a period of time. You keep working hard cause it reflects on yourself and not getting the job done properly will come back to bite you later
But with our players it seems the attitude is that someone else will just pick up the pieces

agreed, don't we have the most experienced side in the comp? We have 4 guys who are nsw and aus rep players, 2 of which have been around that scene for a number of years then we have very experienced guys in our side like Gibbs, heighno, toops and Morris who have been in first grade for 10+ years

I know it's not the best circumstances to be in at the club but these guys should be able to ensure training sessions are kept up to the normal intensity level. That's what I like about carney, at least you see him clicking it at team mates when he is on the playing field, seen graham so it also

I totally disagree with all of the above. The buck stops with the coach. If the players aren't trying, he needs to get them to or replace them with guys that can. If he can't do that he goes. There isn't a team in the nrl that would keep winning with a seat warming coach.

None of this makes Sharp a bad guy, but he never should have taken a job he didn't want, especially when it involves motivating and getting the best out of 20 odd guys in thier jobs.

Like every workplace, the culture is set from the top down. And he has set up a ****house culture.

I have a few things to say about this as I can see it from a few sides:

1) **** Sharp. Gal is right on the money. The guy is a bludger.

2) No player or coach is bigger than the club. You put on that jersey, you're not representing the coach, you're representing the club and the club only exists for the fans. **** THE COACH, DO IT FOR THE CLUB...DO IT FOR THE FANS.

3) Still haven't signed a decent back

Gal can be frustrating at times in attack but he loves the club as much as any of us, he is too media savvy to have made a blew yesterday in his comments it was the straw that broke the camels back and he made it, good on him something has to change I'm all for a change up...

Noyce's comments might provide some context with which to view Gallen's views. Noyce is comfortable with the current arrangement (at least that is what he says publicly). If this is true then we may as well all give up because it is patently obvious that the current set up is not working.

You cannot have a bloke in the top job who doesn't want it. The lack of hunger goes through the organisation immediately. It happens in business all the time. If the boss aint up to it then the things go pear shaped fast. It has been clear for a while that a circuit breaker is needed, so what does our club do - nothing.

What options are there - for starters Flanagan should not have been re-appointed. That means there is no reason for Sharp to keep the seat warm for his mate. A brush could have been put through the joint this season with a new coaching team with new ideas.

Now that hasn't happened so now what - for starters we need fresh blood in the coaching ranks. Sharp was brought in to guide Flanagan in his first head coaching gig. That is not needed now. A hungry assistant who is in touch with the modern game and actually has some ideas on how to attack would be a start. This is a tough call on Sharp but it is a tough business. I am not going to throw names around because I am not close enough to it to know, but the brief is fairly clear.

Time for action is needed or this will keep getting worse.

Someone who is a decent attacking coach, that could stay on as the attacking coach once Flanagan returns. Although all these people are probably contracted elsewhere and would probably rather be an assistant where they already are. Also, if they do well as a caretaker, they'll probably go once a full-time first grade position becomes available elsewhere. So if they are successful, they won't be here for long anyway.

Not to mention the fact that we probably couldn't afford the said hypothetical man (or women) anyway.

This season, please finish.

With ten rounds to go there is no chance we are going to get another coach this season so I see no reason to air this stuff in public. There is nothing to be gained here.

As an aside, the captain should be putting a rocket up any player who is not putting in if they feel the coach isn't performing their role in this regard.

Agree, it was pathetic of Gallen to come out and say this in public. Absolutely nothing to gain at all other than taking the spotlight off the players.

We'll have another coach by next week. Sharp will resign, he'll know he can't stay after the manly game and now Gal's comments.

This **** about the club not being able to afford it is bizzare. There are plenty of guys who would take a short, modestly paid contract. Coaching first grade is a very hard gig to get. Besides they'll know the only way is up.

Who comes up with the team list each week? Who picks these lackluster players?

Not sure what your point is? If you go back and have a look I have been nothing but highly critical of Sharp's appointment and his ability as a coach. I don't think our captain should be coming out and saying what he did publicly though.

Nah mate not having a go.

But Sharps making the decisions, wasn't there a problem where the senior players wanted a particular junior to play but he refused. There was talk that Lewis didn't think he was being used properly but no Sharp plays him there. Constantly we argue together against his selections, enough is enough of this coach.

Lets get some fresh minds in and start new.
