Oh well fucj em.
Haven't you had a shot at members who have said this sort of stuff in the past?
I guess I must be in the minority who's only expectation from their membership is to have somewhere to hang out for 12 nights a year with the boys lol
not that I can recall. Please enlighten....
I laugh at this talk of huge salaries - get over yourselves ffs.
For what they actually do in a Rugby League game they are the lowest paid sportsmen in the world.
But in the normal world these are massive salaries mate
Maybe - but in the "normal" world people earning less, basically earn less for a reason.
So you are saying, a small business owner who may only make 100k in a year profit and works 7 days a week is doing LESS then some of these football players who are earning 7 times as much? Hmmm..
They may working longer hours (in which case - why?), but they're taking far less risk, unless they're stupid.
I am just saying, these guys don't seem to be working as hard for the amount of money they are getting
I guess I must be in the minority who's only expectation from their membership is to have somewhere to hang out for 12 nights a year with the boys lol
and how the **** do you know how hard they work?
These guys take huge risks with their bodies, their families, sacrifice relationships, can't lead normal lives i.e.. go out drinking or do drugs (if they so wished) without consequences, they can be out of the job at any moment if they are in a form slump and risk job security by taking up rugby league.
If you spend your years from 16-26 or longer, without studying or getting life after footy in order, these blokes are ****ed.
Its a huge risk and they get underpaid compared to some other sports out there for way more risk.
So you are saying that this year these players are earning their keep? It doesn't look like it at the moment mate
The thing is. These guys are on huge salaries. If you were earning 500k+ in any private enterprise it would come with some VERY strick expectations, you probably would be a CEO with set goals and targets to achieve and if you dont, you'd get the axe, we all know how the corporate world works... So why is it different for these guys? They are running around like school kids. Carney is earning 700k+ a year and is acting like a twelvie. Someone needs to get the **** in there and get their moneys worth. We as members are essentially helping pay them and they go out and play like they don't care.
The problem is that the players are commodities. It's not like you can tell a player to bugger off out of the team when you can't replace them with a player of the same ability. And some players are very aware of the scarcity of their talent.
That comes down to culture as well.
It's a players market, and it seems the players are bigger than the club.
I'd rather put in enthusiasm over ability if ability doesn't care.
You'd want to hope that dropping an "ability" player would make them pull their finger out..
