I think the most frustrating thing is that no one seems to know what the rule regarding obstruction anymore. I'm sure everyone on this forum would watch the Sharks play and bits and pieces of the other games each week and would have a reasonable understanding of the game but if everytime we have a decoy runner no one is sure of the ruling then that is poor. This is a professional sport after all! Make a ruling and stick to it, no one knows anymore. It is becoming like union in that sense.

Just watchin this Saints/NQ game. What a ****ing joke this little blew is.

Ref blows a penalty to NQ. Which was fair enough, it continues to boil over, then goes to the video ref to make sure he makes the right decision. It need to be made clear that if the whistle is blown, whether it be right or wrong decision, thats the call, ref cant change his mind after the call. Like the try for tigers on friday, they score the try, he calls held up, then calls video ref. Joke

My thoughts exactly. The ref blew the penalty then went upstairs! What if penalty to the Cowboys was wrong?

All true.

But IMO us and every team who are the Dogs or NQ need this obstruction thing to keep brewing and growing. Put pressure on the whistleblowers when it comes down to the big games to start penalizing these plays. It would throw the Dogs off completely. Bastards.

Can I just say IMO the refereeing this year has been an absolute disgrace. They have two blokes out there running around the paddock and even with todays technology they STILL manage to get it wrong. What ever happened to the refs on the oval blowing the whistle and awarding the points? Half the time they refer the situation upstairs the wrong decision is still made, it seems to me like its a lottery and quite frankly the Sharkies haven't being winning much. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if they aren't gunna use the video ref properly, get rid of him. They could save themselves some money, give it to junior league! Just my two cents.

Here is a fun fact. Cronulla have conceded the least amount of penalties and been given the most. So I don't think we have copped the bad end of the stick by any means. Couple of shockers yeah. The Tigers & Broncos game comes to mind with the charge down and the Graham "try" respectively.
Agree they use the video reff way to much but I think that is just because they don't wanna cop the back lash of getting the call wrong. Nothing I love seeing more though then a ref making a decision on his own and showing a bit of confidence.

Like that touchie a couple years back at Shark Park that put the flag up when a player possible scored, said he saw his foot touch the line and called him out.

Turned out to be completely correct.

No one seems to be mentioning how boring the video ref is making the game. Just make a decision and move on to the long winded and boring conversion kick. I want to see more actual footy with a bit of flow.

That just means we have good discipline. Don't worry, we will get a few soft penalties in our favour and then there'll be a 'square up' where they give less penalties, but more handy ones, to the opposition.

See every time we've played Manly over the last couple of years.

Yeah and good on us for it. Think I said this elsewhere but we used to be soft as in terms of giving away soft penalties & easy meters. Good on flanno for whipping the boys into shape!

He uses the interpretation of the rule book to great effect, he will oocasionally admit his mistake but more often than not he will talk riddles within the rule book that leaves you scratching your head.

not to have a dig but here's another fun fact: we lost two games in golden point because of publicly admitted/confirmed refereeing blunders. that puts us on what...33 comp points? pushing for a top 4 finish? i would consider that to be the rough end of the stick.

Wade copping that suspension was another one. How'd Mini walk away with no suspension after his effort on Dugan yet a genuine accident within the game can sideline one of our main men. another shocker.

i don't think too many teams this year can say they've got it easy from the refs, well maybe Melbourne the cheating ****s, but that's a given.

Did you watch the tigers game? It was one of the worst games of football I have watched all year.
Here is a fun fact. Put 30 on a side and it doesn't make **** all difference about one call.

Here's a fun fact: you're living in fantasy land if you think the Sharks can ever just lay on 30 points every single week.

Is it too much to ask for the refs not to **** up on some of the most basic rules at the most crucial moments?

Don't ask for us to do it every week, dont even expect us to win every game, but you can't say the refs cost us a game unless we put ourselfs in the position for them to do it.

That game was horrible... We didn't deserve to win with the amount of dropped balls we had. Go back and check the completion rate of the game. We cost us that game. Not the refs.
