THere are a lot of disgruntled Dragon fans saying there were three forward passes in our first try. Sorry, I have looked over and over again, I can't see any. Maybe they were flat but not forward. Just seems like more Dragons whingeing. Also our defense is not getting the credit it should. Dragon fans are again saying their attack was so pedestrian anyone could have defended against it.

Seems to me our friends across the bridge are having trouble coming to terms with this!

The pass from Williams back to Robson definitely traveled forward with the momentum of Williams, but that is not a forward pass. I don't think there is any other pass which you could question

That's just what they do. That's why no one likes them. Now that Wayne has left, things are returning to normal at StMerge.

I didn't think any of the balls were forward. imo if the ball isn't blatantly forward don't call it forward. I'm okay to live with slight forward passes if it is consistant and obvious forward passes are pulled up.

i bet if the dragons scored like that you would all be calling it forward. 2 of the 3 passes were forward.

not complaining but still everyone would be death riding the refs had it been the dragons with the exact same passes

How good was the game!! Gallen.. what a freak!!

On a side note.. Did anyone listen to the after match interview with Hornby? Some chick from Fox Sports asked something like what happened, usual asnwer from a losing side, we werent in the game, they had great defence, we need to work on it.. Then she comes out with the following..... SO HOW DO YOU THINK THE SHARKS WILL GO THIS YEAR..... Hornby goes silent and basically ends the interview, ******ING HILARIOUS!!!!!

Well when you ask about the chances of any team winning the competition in round 6 it is laughable isn't it!!! I thought he handled it well.

I think more to the point they just got smashed and the last thing they want to hear is how good the team that just beat them is going to go for the rest of the season! Most post match interviews are to get the feedback on how their own team is going to fix the problems, basically she just said, sorry you just got smashed but how good are the Sharks!!!

Take what you want from it but he certainly seemed to be indicating to the reporter something along the lines of "come on, you can't be serious? what a dumb question. getouttaaheeree"

players get asked all the time about how good teams are that have just beaten them, and they dont react like that!

You know, I have been waiting for years for a good female reporter to get in with the blokes and commentate on the game. Unfortunately no one, with the possible exception of Debbie Spillane (and that was only on radio), have come up to the mark. I agree with everyone that Lara Pitt, while looking like a lovely dolly bird, just could not be taken seriously. I was at the game and had to look twice when I saw her out in the middle pre-game and at half time. I thought she was just one of those blonde girls you always see at sporting events running around with a walkie talkie in their hand and trying to look important.

While I am at it, and its probably the wrong thread, but will we ever see a female referee in the NRL. Gavin Badger's wife Kasey is a sideline official in Under 20s and I believe has aspirations but can a female truly referee first grade? And I am truly not being sexist as I would love to see it!

What are your thoughts guys?

Debbie Spillane is pretty good IMO. She has a very broad knowledge across a lot of sports and does her job very thoroughly. Unlike some of her male counterparts, who would rather take cheap pot shots and make broad, uninformed, jovial comments (particularly about struggling teams) in an attempt to hide their complete lack of knowledge and basic research.

As for a female ref, yeah sure. I can't see any reason why not.

Not a problem, in principle. A female ref may be better able to keep the players in line.

On the down side, it could affect the dynamics of the game. The players might be less inclined to use language or a little niggle, and potentially use less aggression on the field.

Also, wouldn't be pretty if a female ref were steamrolled, like Tony de la Haras.

I loved watching them leave the ground early when there was enough time left on the clock for them to win the match.

In my 20 plus years of watching the sharks. The weekend is by far my best memory now.

What a load of crap. I just watched the replay on nrl.com a few times and no pass was forward. There was one flat one but went back out of the hands and was perfectly legal.

It wasn't Hornby, it was Nightingale. I thought it was funny and agree with your interpretation. It did sound like she was saying "The Sharks are pretty good aye" and he got all cut up about it hahaha. I laughed.

IMO that just sounds like a sexist attitude to me. Even if it's subconscious. Who do you take seriously? Tim Gilbert who doesn't even know which players are kiwis or Queenslanders etc? Or maybe Gus Gould? I think you see a pretty girl and assume that she's only good for one thing and don't give her the benefit of the doubt she's due. I thought this particular girl had great delivery in the post match interviews. Was able to get quite a few questions in a short time and lead the interview well. No ego, no bull**** and good knowledge of the sport. If an ugly old man said the same thing no one would be saying this.
