For me the turning point was a Pomeroy knock on the set after we scored our second. For some inexplicable reason Gal threw a wide, high pass to Poms who dropped it. If there was one set that all we needed to do was drive it through the middle it was then. 13 - 0 at the 60 minute mark, complete your set, good kick/chase then have a dominant defensive set and that would have changed the game completely. And what is with Mannah getting so little game time? I thought Ricky was back in charge.

Just seeing the post match press chinwag, I think it was on fox.

I applaud Flanno for holding it together, you could see him almost bursting at the seems.

He was ready burst, but keep a cool head.

Yeah I can't help but think a big guy like Mannah not being used properly in such an arm wrestle, with Douglas going off so early as well, was a bad decision. Is it partly to explain for us having a bad last 20 minutes? Why did Flanagan do that? Was there a good reason? I know Brod Wright and Cordoba had massive games, and Smith too, but it doesn't make sense to me.

That's true, however how many games like that can we have? We need to win them to make the 8 I reckon. We should be 4/5 right now. I can cop the Warriors loss because it was mostly our fault for losing that one, but last night I think is 2 points we may need at the end of the season.

I kind of agree- the best teams almost all the games they should win, and win a decent chunk of the ones they shouldn't as well. I can see us missing the eight by 2 points and if that happens then we really can put it down to last night.

But the gist of what Ryan and Wooden are saying is that you do your best, win the game, but lose on the scoreboard- what more could you have done? What bit of that do you change? The boys did their best, sometimes it just doesn't go your way. Other times you won't play your best and things will go your way and you'll get the result. Its an art, not a science.

Yeah fair enough. I can't fault any of the Sharks (including coaching staff) for last night. I consider it a win in that regard. I hope this doesn't affect them mentally.

What happened to Douglas?

He copped a heavy knock to the head early.

I think they were using him sparingly. I don't know how many minutes he played, but just about every time I looked at the bench he was off. I may have just been looking at the bench at the wrong times though.

Douglas must hate Manly- The concussion last night, the fight a couple of years ago and the send off for the head high.:take that

I can't see why it wouldnt make them mad and fire them up for next week. But who knows what effect it will have until next week.

He said that if we can compete for 70 minutes we have the class to win the last 10 minutes.

Well it didnt come to fruition this week then did it ?

Thats bye the bye anyway as that wasnt why we lost last night though

I think he had a head clash or an accidental forearm to the head.

A bit dazzled
it was pretty solid-i winced seeing the slowmo!

he had a head clash with one of the manly guys(might of been king-i cant watch the game again yet-will wait til thurs) and ,if he wasn't out then, hit snowy's noggin on the way down.

goodnight.

my take on the match officials.

i didnt like it at all.

it didn't surprise me at all.

i'm not blaming our loss on it though.
but it certainly didn't help with the way we were playing.

we got lazy and we did not hang onto the pill.
it's very hard to win games when you don't hold onto the ball.
all we needed to do was we'd been doing, but somehow we lost our way.

Zak,
Agree with your 'take on the match officials', I will however add that I don't believe there are 8 referees of 1st grade standard let alone 16 of them. I don't know what the result would have been last night, even if it would have changed with only one ref, but surely one buffoon is better then two when attempting to make a split second decision.
