I still feel SICK IN THE GUTS! Have never copped so much **** from Eagles mates over a game in my life.I don't think we can blame anyone other than too many mistakes from our team -for the loss.

Wright can hardly be blamed for the way that ball bounced. Sheer luck.

Agreed, it would be a crime if Wright was dropped after that, he finally broke his try drought, which means many more to come, good under the high ball. Can't really fault him, only critisim he was caught out of position once or twice, but I can't think of many other wingers in our team that wouldn't of been in those circumstances.

Awesome post bastard - we were robbed blind.

We still played like a Finals side - we have a good team!

Please folks - at least see that?

We did in no way deserve that result.

Your right, our only problem this year is we haven't played for the full 80 minutes, we let teams back in the game, or when we are already behind, we let them get away from us. We fix this, we can beat anybody.

He got KO'd in like the 12th minute and went off. Came back into the game later on.

Cost me bloody SuperCoach points though. Grrrrr!!:rant

Thats very true Matt - but the amount of pill manly had in the second half , there was a 10 minute period we didnt touch the ball FFS , makes it very hard for any team to compete.

I do however still worry about Flannos comment the other week that we need to compete for 70 mins

We didn't have the ball because of silly penalties. We can say the ref was helping Manly, but some of our play in that passage, especially from Aiton, was just plain stupid, symbolised by the embarrassing try to George Rose.

After watching the game several times I can tell you Wright could of easily gotten that ball. Wright started to chase and pulled back to let Gardner go for it, who was about 5-10 meters away. I've never liked Wright at wing and think Staplton should be there. Don't get me wrong I think Wrights a good player, just not a winger.

We played hard for the full 80 - the refs were the difference.

We let in 2 arsy tries because we'd been flogged to death by poor refereeing giving Manly 1000s of repeat sets of 6. Can't call tries soft in those circumstances. Very few teams can make that many tackles in a row without tiring somewhere.

I'm sorry, but the way Rose strolled through was down right embarrassing. I was there, some of those penalties were fair dinkum, we just fell apart in that set and it cost us.

At the start of the year, I agreed with you. I thought Wright was a centre, and a centre only, but he has done alright on the wing. I agreed about Stapleton as well, he probably does deserve to play first grade on his NSW Cup form. But I've seen enough from Wright so far to keep him there for the time being. As for the chase thing, that's communication and that will come with time, the same thing would of happened with any other winger.

You mean the no-try (forward pass).

No try remember - forward pass.

And the bolded part - what about the penalties we didn't get? in the 2nd half????????????????

They were offside, all over us in play the balls, and we were deliberately prevented from rolling up the field when we needed to.

Doesn't matter if you were there or not - the decisions are the same whether you're at the game or on the moon.

Get a grip mate - we were robbed in that half - end of story. Not saying we could've limited some of our mistakes, but ffs you can't keep defending that many sets without cracking - especially when they had to pass forward to crack us!

My next point - the mods have moved the thread - who says you can't win with a 13 point lead? Ask the Ponies tonight.

I've seen enough of Sadface Stapo to last me a lifetime.

And once again, Wright can hardly be blamed for the luck of that bounce. He was trying to shield the ball from the Manly player/s, but of course luck of the draw has it bounce straight into the opposition's open arms. Maybe he could've got there faster, maybe he couldn't have. But our loss was not his fault, and it would be insanely unfair to drop him.

I've got a grip mate. Its this kind of 'blame the ref' excuses which starts us on our usual downward spiral. We need to accept responsibility for our loss and move on.

Wrong - we were the better team - outplayed them - got robbed full stop.

I'm not the kind to blame **** on the refs normally - but here are the facts:

  • No penalties awarded to us 2nd half when they were getting away with murder as far as offside & holding down in the tackles.
  • George Rose try off a blatant forward pass.
  • Cherry-Evans field goal off an even more blatant forward pass.
  • No advantage ruled after manly had passed at least twice and gained at least 20 metres.
  • Avalanche of penalties in a row to manly (4) that gave them too many sets of 6 in a row and made us defend way too many tackles (they still had to throw forward passes to get past us or get rediculously arsy with kicks that pinball off nuffies to a lucky player).

Like I said - get a grip.

We played far better than them - get behind our team.
