What else did you expect him to do in his debut game? Score a hattrick and break 20 tackles?

I thought he was pretty solid actually, took some big hits, was willing to come in and roll his sleeves up and took some good catches under pressure. I'm not saying he's going to be a star but I think he did really well.
I’m saying he was ok. Safe, got an easy try, caught a good bomb.

But he won’t be taking either wing position as long as the current wings want to remain at the Sharks.

Good backup option.

Totally agree with you on this mate, all good. As I said, I'm not saying he is a star but I thought he did really well yesterday, better than just OK.

Yeah perfectly fine as a backup mate.

Like Proud Shark said, probably won’t demand much attention from other clubs.

Would have been nice.

Sharks winger Sam Stonestreet was unstoppable for the Jets with two tries, two linebreaks, seven tackle busts and 242 running metres.

Good day out for Sam it seems.

Unfortunately I don’t see him being a Shark in 2025 (pure speculation of course). He’s been playing good, consistent footy in NSW Cup and barring injuries, we don’t have a spot for him.

Ronaldo, Ramien and Katoa aren’t getting dropped anytime soon and even if we don’t re-sign Iro, Sifa would be ahead of him in the pecking order. Not to mention we have Dykes looming around as well.

There will be a number of other teams with their eyes on a young try scorer that’s desperate for first grade.

It’s Trindall and Iro all over again!

Maybe he does leave - if he does well we have Katoa and Mulitalo, we’ll be fine.
Or he can stick around and earn a spot in a good team if he likes.

He won’t leave. He’s a junior, loves the club and is next in line, he’s happy to wait a bit

He scored a couple of good tries from about 10m out, and did some good hard yards on tackle 1/2.

At other times I thought he was pretty lazy. Poor Rodwell puts in twice the effort on kick chases etc, but probably won't ever get a look in, Stonestreet naturally blessed.

Yeah I don't know, little bit different for mine.

Moylan was older and noticeably slowing down, was only a matter of time for him.

Iro had Talakai in front of him but there was always the chance Sifa would move back to the forwards.

Ron and Katoa only 24 and 26 respectively and hard to see either going anywhere soon, both in great form.

I'd love him to stay but I could see him leaving unfortunately.

Agree on Tricky, but as recently as round 3 we were saying there's simply no way you can move Sifa from centre. I personally think you can afford to save money on an outside back somewhere to upgrade the rest of the squad. If the difference could be 2-300k a season over 3-4 years, I'd be looking at finding him a path in at the expense of one of our guys. That is assuming he is capable getting close to replicating the output though. I don't watch enough of him to make that call.

Yeah that's all fair and I agree.

I'm a bit like you, haven't seen enough of Sam. He'd have to absolutely be smashing the door down to make that call, would be a huge call to move on either of our wingers.

Agreed, and although we had a forward issue, it was still a pretty big call to move Sifa. I think if it's the right call, Fitz will do it.

Also depends on where we'd want to use the extra cash. Easier to stomach if you're signing a gun fullback or five eighth and have to move on a winger to do so.

If Stonestreet is as good as people say, then Katoa will get moved on. Don’t forget Moylan and Tracey both had contracts for this year.

Other clubs will be keen as for Katoa.

People were threatening Trindall to leave for like 4 years - while your statement is still correct over that period Trindall was still very patient compared to what some thought he should be

(Or maybe he wasn’t, at one stage he was rumoured to be gone and seemingly got no other offers)

Could be wrong but I thought Trindall sniffed around for another club at one stage.
