Good podcast Snowman. Enjoyed seeing your guys point of view.
I agree on replacing Hunt. It feels like every year he plays, he needs just 1 more year to fulfill the potential he has. But then the next year comes along and his still 1 year off his breakout year. He might spend more time in the weights room in pre season than actually working on his game.
Does the Sharks lack a captain? And who is the future captain?
The club without Graham is definitely missing leadership. The inot issue when Graham is back, he will be lucky to be playing off the bench, which is not where you want your captain to be. There might be an argument just to slot him in at 12 next to Moylan just for his defence if Fits is going to persevere with Moylan.
I would agree giving Hynes captain today could only be done if Hynes actually personally asked for it. Otherwise I really think that is putting too much pressure on him when he is still transitioning into a pure 7. He has the respect the players, the staff, the media and can back it all up with on field performance’s.
When can we give an honest opinion on Fitz?
I think Fitz definitely benefited from an easy draw last year, with a breakout year from Hynes at 7. So far this year, Hynes is looking strong again, and we have another easy draw. But we are dropping games that are easily winnable.
Fitz is loyal which in turn means he is also stubborn. Being loyal is a admirable trait, but in this game, if being loyal means you stubbornly continue to pick players that are costing you wins, you will soon be out of favour and out of a job.
Now is the time to put Trindall in at 6. Give give him 2 full weeks training there and try come create some unison with Hynes. I don’t think you said but the other guy on the podcast, If Trindall doesn’t play well against the Roosters, drop him and out Moylan back in. That is not the way. You put him at 6 and be done with it.
There will be games where Trindall has off days, he will over cook something, make errors. But the alternative is doing the same ole and leaving Moylan in and leaking trys and metres in that left side.
On what purpose is Trindall picked on the bench?
If I was picking the team and I put Trindall on the bench, it would be injury cover for Moylan / Hynes, which I don’t agree on picking players on the bench just in case.
Or maybe giving Brailey a 20 minute spell. I don’t like that idea either, Trindall isn’t a hooker and he doesn’t have utility value.
Trindall is a starting 6/7 or he isn’t in the 17.
On Ronnie and his chirp
I agree it’s part of his game, and I don’t want him to reel it in. But I do want him to be more conscious of when chirping helps you and the team, and when it doesn’t help the team. If you’re scoring trys, winning and on top, sure chirp away. But if the other team has it over you and your ego is too big that you need to laugh and rub oppositions heads or whatever, you’re only giving them motivation.
I have a lot of time for Ronnie, he does alot off the field and I respect him so highly for that. I just want him have a bit more class on the field.
I will listen to the rest of the podcast today and provide more feedback.
