Independent of this, it looks like contracts do not mean anything from the clubs point of view.
If the club makes a long term contract with a favourable $ for the club, but then the player plays well and there is interest in him, the club either has to upgrade the player or needs to let him go. So, no advantage to the club.
If the club pays a bit overs for the player and the player does not play well, the player still sees his contract out. So, no advantage to the club.
The contracts seem very one-sided to me.
