Speaking of rule changes, I'd like one to occur. I think at the end of the game, if the ref calls held before the buzzer then the ball should get played. It's happens all the time now in origin/big games when it's close they just hold down on that tackle so time runs out. As fans, we are robbed of that last play after the siren that is so damn exciting.
If last night finished on a right shift and a try in the corner against a retreating defence, or an amazing try saving tackle it would have been amazing theatre.
Not that it would have helped but probably 2 professional fouls that could have been bins in that set.
Instead of allow that last play imagine if ref blew the whistle for a penalty at the end there and said 'right you're 10 in the bin, professional foul, you over there, your 10 in the bin professional foul two tackles ago I played advantage. James your tap'.
Make for a really exciting and not undeserved last attempt.
Obviously not part of how the game is played currently but I don't think it'd be unfair for a team to get some benefit from that kind of end of game play from opposition.
Not how it works though and ref did end up allowing them to just choke out that last play so well done Qld.
Here's a question - if there was a 2 point margin do we think any of those tackles in last set would have been penalties?
My answer is I think they probably would have been which suggests they still should have been - in saying that I think the Queenslanders would have got off quicker so as to not give away a penalty goal, which suggests they knew they were penalties too...
