Trindall has payed 3 games, he’s no immortal of the future & he does have mistakes in him but so does a 200 gamer in Chad who Im guessing is getting paid atleast double what Trindall is, I see more game & upside in Trindall 3 games in than I have in Chad & his 200 games.

We have Chad for another 3 seasons after this year? I can’t see Trindall wanting to stick around nor Chad getting opportunities elsewhere, something will give & unfortunately i don’t think it’ll be beneficial to the Sharks.

Exactly - plus we all know Chads ceiling he’s an average half most games with a few above average games a few season.. not really a running threat ,kicking game is average and he’s slow.

This is what I was trying to say last week... he is off contract.

If a club comes knocking and he can’t see a clear path to first grade in our team I wouldn’t be mad at him leaving. He is ready to play first grade, alot of the talk was about him - not saying let’s drop Chad but am saying Trindall needs to be next cab off the rank not Moylan and not Tracey and not just keep Chad in the team when hes not bringing much

I agree with this. Trindall should be first in for injury after Chad and SJ.

Let’s not get too excited just yet though. The Cowboys are a poor team and Coen Hess gifted us three tries. The defence won’t be that porous very often.

he has to stay and he has to be our 7 going forward

face it, we are in the beginning of a very good re-build. anyone think we will win it this year?

so play him in the 7 for the rest of the year to get his feet in first grade and give him a head start into next season

I've been a Bomber supporter from day 1 but I still can't wrap my tiny little brain around his decision to extend Chad, unless the rumoured options are in favour of the club.

agree 1000%

the decision to re-sign him, so early and with no other club wanting him was a dumb move

we could have extended him after round 10 or made the decision to let him walk

if we lose BT because of his extension, it will prove to be a **** re-signing

And even that's an understatement
Imagine the Dragons ( or similar ) signing him and he blitz's it , while we chug, chug , chug along with Chad instead .
OMG , nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

We absolutely need to sign this kid up, we can not lose him seriously. Losing KF was ****, but losing Trindall will hurt more.

He is a strong defender, got a good boot on him, not a bad goal kicker and fast. There's alot more development in him and we have more to gain with him than CT.

No coach worth having would pick players with that mentality

So you'd just keep him locked him in regardless? This year and next? We all seem pretty agreed that Bomber's starting halves, when fit, likely win us more games.

You should give the old heads more credit for where the young guys have gotten us this season. Results and development wise.

Yes Trindall has to develop more, but he honestly looks like he offers more than CT.

He looks pretty solid, and has some flare. I like his running game, those little darts at the line. Personally I think he's a year away from the top grade. If Chad's contract were up this year... whew... would be a tough call.

I'm almost more concerned about what he can do to help SJ play his game. That's one thing Chad does really well, taking the pressure of organising so SJ can do his thing. A lot of that comes down to the combo they've formed over the years. I can't see us getting the best from SJ if he has to take Trindall under his wing, so I'd give up any Trindall upside for this years version of SJ.

I reckon he'll get 8'ish games next year, which feels like a good apprenticeship, and we'll know what kind of player he can become by then. Bomber's shown he will pick his team based on performance, and if we're seeing that from Trindall then he'll get the jersey in 2022 regardless of Chad or Moylan's contracts.

I think who helps Johnson more is a huge factor, arguably the biggest given how lethal our attack can be with him playing well. A top notch Johnson is our best bet to close out the year with competitive games (that and actually tackling and having equal or better possession).

Surely that's Chad, at the end of the day I know it's cool on here to call him pReMiErShIp WiNnInG halfback and say only good things he did in GF were get headshotted and pushed out the way but in that review of the Grand Final with Ennis, Matty & Cronk Ennis corrects Matt that it was Chad leading their gameplan that day not Maloney. People like to call him out on that element of his game whenever things don't go well for our team but it is persistently credited by players, coaches and ex players in media.

I did say after Trindalls first game Chad will have a real fight on his hands next year though and while I wasn't as impressed* with Trindall as most on here after this week that is still my expectation.

*I thought he was good, especially given circumstances of spine and having very little senior support, but I had 5 or 6 guys ahead of him for my player of the year voting

More of a prospect than Young Flanno IMO.

Possibly although Flanno has more runs on the board at this stage he also has being playing FG longer
Flanno is a steady type with good vision and kicking game

Trindall more an exciting heads up player with a wicked pass and tough defense but still capable of working to a structure

I could see some logic in keeping Chad on but the length of the contract is what hurts and yes we could have probably held off the extension longer with little to no threat from rival clubs

I just watched the highlights again and Trindall was in everything. He just seems to want to be where the ball is. I'm loving the way he makes the defence commit before passing, and that flick pass to Nikora to put Talakai over was class. Can't imagine our incumbent half doing that, can anyone else?

We can't afford not to give Trindall a start. He brings that touch of 'X' factor that we have been missing.
