Cool , that will help .
Just hope he doesn't get frustrated if stuck behind Johnno and Chad with his 4 year contract :(

Mate he's played 3 games. If he's stamping his feet & getting frustrated already he's not our man. Patience is a key attribute for a half.

Our cap penalty which was majority this year is gone on upgrades of Royce, Rhino and Toby.

Trindall is off contract now, surely we re-sign him

As it should, they've been outstanding & no matter who the half is he'll struggle without their go forward.

Anyway the $350k back puts us in better shape to sign/re-sign blokes than this yr or last.

Unless a desperate mob throw lots of cash his way I'd reckon we seal him back up. I think most desperate clubs have already invested in halves.

Cool , same , HUGE call to put Chad ahead of him, but unfortunately I feel Morris will
BUT , if we were to make our mark in the semi's , I really do feel , heads up footy is the way to do damage .
No defence likes defending that type of player and that player is Trindall
They lap up a Chad type

If coach Morris is consistent and Chad isn't performing after he comes back into the team then he gives him a sit down and talking to and maybe a dropping for a few weeks. hes done it to Nikora and Moylan, jack williams and almost SJ. this will show how chummy and loyal he really is with his half back. the problem is that a typical solid type Chad peformances will be enough to keep him as our starting half even if he isn't brilliant he doesnt have enough Moylan level shockers for coach to drop him. but it's not just about this season we need to look ahead beyond Chad at some point, you need speed in your playmakers

Chad shouldn't be afforded endless patience and excuses if he isn't up to task, I hope coach is fair and reasonable on this and isn't too blind sided by loyalties and history

Can he look elsewhere from November ?
Can't let him go .
If we need more $$$ to keep him and have him playing weekly .
How can we do this ?

surely we keep him at Cronulla after what happened with Flanno Jnr. to lose Trindall too would be a colossal disaster and prob leave us rolling the dice on the open market

Cool , that will help .

I would like to think that if he is stuck behind Chad it's because Chad is playing well at least that would make sense to Trindall considering the addition of Chads seniority and experience in the team
I look back at Kyle Flanagan and his likely frustration at not being able to get back into the team despite Shaun Johnson playing some of the worst footy of his career at that point

We don't want to repeat that situation, staff need to be sitting down with Trindall now, setting expectations and talking future plans with him and that he is in them

That's true ,
But he has footy brain , an X factor with a shrewdly deceptive passing game .
I'm sure they'll be other clubs throwing $$$ at him to be their starting halfback .
If I ran a battling club that had crap halves , I'd take the risk on him.
Heaps of potential upside .

clubs take chances and throw mega cash at young blokes who havn't even played a single NRL game. clubs are desperate for good halves and I can think of a few off top of my head that have some pretty average ones running out for them

agree with egg if we don't get ahead of this contract wise some other club will. we dont need to panic or throw the bank at him but we need to be proactive and look after him and give him a fair deal and game time

Is there any thing to suggest we're not working to extend Trindall?

Naa , nothing to suggest it .
Just a bit concerned we might loose him .
5 into 2 doesn't go and if Johnno holds form
4 into 1
To tell you the truth , I'd prefer Chad and/or Moylan to be told they can test the market if push came to shove , if it means keeping him

I wouldn't include Moylan tbh. No way he'll be re signed after next year so reckon Bomber puts Tricky before him as long as his form holds.

When Trindall re-signed there was talk in one thread here that he may have an option year.

I haven’t seen anything that confirms this - but it was definitely something that was discussed.

In the clubs favour I take it ?
Wonder how they would work out a figure $$$ in that scenario

Trindall has payed 3 games, he’s no immortal of the future & he does have mistakes in him but so does a 200 gamer in Chad who Im guessing is getting paid atleast double what Trindall is, I see more game & upside in Trindall 3 games in than I have in Chad & his 200 games.

We have Chad for another 3 seasons after this year? I can’t see Trindall wanting to stick around nor Chad getting opportunities elsewhere, something will give & unfortunately i don’t think it’ll be beneficial to the Sharks.

I've been a Bomber supporter from day 1 but I still can't wrap my tiny little brain around his decision to extend Chad, unless the rumoured options are in favour of the club.

I'm not a Chad hater, but I'm certainly not a fan either. I think I've referred to him as 'Plod' in the past, he is what he is, no excitement machine, mostly reliable, but with poor lateral vision.

What I saw from young Trindall in just his third game in the top grade was, I thought, quite remarkable. His composure and confidence was on a level with what you would expect from a seasoned campaigner, not a green 21 year old kid.

For mine he is a much better prospect than your predecessors kid, so lock him in Bomber before he gets nicked.

This is what I was trying to say last week... he is off contract.

If a club comes knocking and he can’t see a clear path to first grade in our team I wouldn’t be mad at him leaving. He is ready to play first grade, alot of the talk was about him - not saying let’s drop Chad but am saying Trindall needs to be next cab off the rank not Moylan and not Tracey and not just keep Chad in the team when hes not bringing much
